Free Music Notes for Richard Pryor: ...And It's Deep Too! The Complete Warner Bros. Recordings (1968-1992)Free Music Review: Good, but ... Hit: 5 Stars
They need to release this material in their seperate albums...only a handful of Richard Pryor's album work has been released on CD outside of this box set, and his strongest and most succesful albums have still yet to see the light of day since their mid-eighties cassette releases. This box set is quite comprehensive and packs in all his classics, but it is also very expensive and overkill for those merely looking for an introduction to Pryor. They could at least put out a single-CD condensed version of this set featuring his best stuff, aside from the sloppy & rare 'Greatest Hits' CD.
Free Music Review: Richard Pryor: And It's Deep Too. Hit: 5 Stars
Richard Pryor is the Bob Dylan of comedy, and this six disc box set shows why. From his early routines on, Pryor takes the basic differences between peolpe-- men & women, winos & straight people, blacks & whites, and gives unique, truly insightful comments about what they are and why they exist. he never stoops to cliches or easy toilet jokes and set the bar high for all those that followed. if you've never heard any ofhis routines or just know of Pryor from the movies, you've gotta' hear this stuff. it's hysterical, will keep you laughing ......and it's deep too!
Free Music Review: Godfather of comedy Hit: 5 Stars
I bought this collection of cd's without barely knowing who Richard Pryor are. I heard the name Richard Pryor in a Eddie Murphy joke and wanted to check it out.And I know understand who was his biggest influence. Richard Pryor is a genius and the jokes he performed on that time are still not out of date, and will probably never be.You can identify yourself in the jokes and who go tired of hearing jokes about racial differences? If you like Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock, Martin Lawrence... nevermind tthis is the collection you have to own. Buy it!
Free Music Review: He'll always be the best Hit: 5 Stars
I haven't heard this particular set, I'll have to order it from Amazon, but I'm familiar with most of the material. It amazes me today how many people don't know Pryor's work. His 1979 film Live in Concert is probably the funniest thing on the planet. And most of the stuff in that is here on these discs. If you know anything about his life you'll know what he went through to produce such a funny perspective on the world. But, well, thank God he dealt with it the way he did cos he lightened the load for the rest of us.
Free Music Review: Richard Pryor More than Funny Hit: 5 Stars
Richard Pryor was a genius who could weave the intricate nature of the extant social issues with familiar personal events that we all could relate, appreciate and find the amazing humor. He leverage the story telling skills into an incredible depiction of America and our world.
He had us look in the mirror and laugh at ourselves and this collection has it all!
Enjoy!
