Free Music Review: A wonderful career retrospective

If you loved the Buffalo Springfield, Poco, or SHF Band then this is for you. A wonderfully recorded two disc set from Richie Furay and a great backing band. These folks really nail it.......not sure if it doesn't sound even better than some of those bands back in the day. The Springfield could sound a bit ragged live. The Neil Young medley is simply beautiful and the Stills cover even better than the original in my opinion. The one show I saw with SHF in Cambridge, MA was very good but Richie was really the star of that show and his two numbers from that band really shine again here for those not really familiar with that group's work. As for the POCO numbers....they still are great songs that should have made them as big as the Eagles...but guess Richie wasn't as driven or ruthless in his ambitions. All through his career and on this recording Richie Furay comes across as a good guy, a real artist and someone you might enjoy meeting someday. As we use to say in the Army about such a fellow...more interested in doing good work than taking lots of credit he is a "class act." Cheers
