Free Music Notes for Venus in OverdriveFree Music Review: Rick's Still Rockin'! Hit: 5 Stars
I recently saw Rick Springfield perform live at Casino Rama (July, 2009). Following the concert, I HAD TO get his newest album, Venus In Overdrive. I admit that I was a HUGE fan back in the 80's and Rick Springfield was my FIRST EVER concert when he came To Toronto, but I hadn't really followed his music over the years. I had every album that he had made until Living In Oz (1983). I saw him star in Hard To Hold in 1984, then my musical tastes leaned toward a harder-edged rock. I was pleasantly surprised that Venus In Overdrive has an edgier sound. LOVE IT! Rick's music and looks have aged well with time!
Free Music Review: Love It! Hit: 5 Stars
This CD is awesome! I was so excited to hear that Rick had a new CD coming out and was so pleased at just how good it was. I've been a fan since the early 80's and I still absolutely love his music and think that this CD could be one of his best yet. I've always appreciated that his introspective views express him both intellectually and emtionally as a person and an artist. A couple of my favorites are MR. PC, I'LL MISS THAT SOMEDAY and OBLIVIOUS.
Wheather you have been a Rick Springfield fan for many years or have never heard his music before, this CD is worth a listen and will not dissappoint.
Free Music Review: Rick is in overdrive entertaining us - a MUST have CD Hit: 5 Stars
Rick Springfield will wow you with this terrific cd. His talent lies in the lyrics, the guitar hooks and the brilliance of this compilation of clearly new impressive songs. I love Rick Springfield music - he is a master who was and is very successful but deserves even more musical credibiilty than he gets (must be those gorgeous green eyes!) Fantastic songs here - it rocks, Rick's voice is superb and he knew what he was doing in creating this cd about love in various forms. It's wonderful and makes a great gift for yourself and your friends - male and female alike. The man is timeless and talented!
Free Music Review: Brilliant, Rick Just Gets Better and Better Hit: 5 Stars
Venus In Overdrive is just brilliant. I'm a longtime Aussie fan (since the Zoot days). I preordered my copy back in April and must admit a few times I worried that I may have put unfair expectations on the new album. I need not have worried. I loved it on first playing. There is something very fresh about the new album with so many great songs that I can't pick a favourite. I find myself singing a number of them to myself and "God Blinked (Swing It Sister)" just makes me want to get up and dance. Time hasn't stood still for Rick's music. Congratulations Rick and Matt on a great album.
Free Music Review: Best rock album of 2008. Hit: 5 Stars
I was a faithful Rick Springfield fan in the 80's when some dismissed him as pop. As a musician I could hear and feel the talent. I finally was proven right with his release of ALIVE. A sonic rockin live album any musician would die for. Yet the public wearing social blinders are missing out on the best live album of all time. Karma,Shock Denial and Anger have glimpses of pure genius and sound. Now Venus. The best hard rocking melodic album of 2008. Take off the blinders people he is the best rock artist of our time and this album proves it. Listen to the music.
