The piano is my favorite instrument, and over the years I've acquired countless CD's by countless artists. To often recordings of classical music on piano sound the same, they are all so similar that they are interchangeable.

NOT THIS ONE! Like silky smooth rich chocolate for the ears, "Classical Variations" by Rick Wakeman is a delightfully decadent treat served up by a truly skilled master. You'll want to savor each coarse of this magnificent auditory feast!

I've read the other reviews, and can only assume that those who rated this CD so low only wanted the opportunity to show off a pompous attitude and commanding grasp of the language, even if the words used were falsehood. Regardless, each is entitled to their own opinion, and mine is that this CD is wonderful.

Although "YES" has been around for decades, my first taste of their music was at a concert a few years ago. Immediately noticable was Wakeman's incredible talent at the keyboards which put me on a quest to find more of his work. Over the past few years I've purchased many of his CD's. The style of music varies (Rock, New Age, etc.), but that only gives a clearer picture of his gift. It's not often you come across someone who can succesfully handle various genres. I wanted very much to hear him play classical, to see how he handled it. I found this CD and am ever more convinced that this man has a rare gift.

Wakeman's exceptional talent is evident in this 56 1/2 minute piece of heaven as "Classical Variations" is performed to perfection. If you enjoy the piano, you're going to love this CD!
