Free Music Review: Not Too Bad At All!
Hit: 5 Stars

Ringo Starr seems to be making a comback with albums like this and 2003's 'Ringo Rama',a welcomed break from the repetitive 'all starr band' live albums that hept coming out in the 1990's.Wheras 'Ringo-Rama' was more psychedelic in nature 'Choose Love' leans more towards country pop and classic rock n' roll-very basic, simple music not dissimilar in sound to (I HATE to do this) some early Beatle stuff. The songwriting of course doesn't come close (how could it) but 'Choose Love' is certainly heads above alot what is coming out these days!
As with most Ringo albums there are not many standout songs here-evrything works as more of a piece. As with alot of Ringo albums that come out this one was fairly unexpected. But anyone who enjoys the Beatles either together or as solo entities will certainly enjoy the albums when they come out.And now that there are only two left it's probably important to keep the cycle going as long as they can, meaning Ringo here AND McCartney.Yes George and John are always missed but all things must pass,we have the memories and albums like this are certainly a lifesaver in that department.

Free Music Review: Ringo 5 Stars
Hit: 5 Stars

A great CD, it is so Ringo. In a different era (like the 70's), this CD would be all over pop radio. Unfortunatley now, we live in an era of rap (crap) and hot "actresses" making great looking videos and bad sounding music.

You won't find a signature "hit" or lyrics that will make you ponder your place in the world, but you will find upbeat, happy sounding good music. The songs as compositions aren't great, but as music they are. Ringo's drumming and voice are as good as they've ever been and Mark Hudson is to be commended on bringing out the "Ringo" is Ringo. The performance and production are top notch.

I especially like "Give Me Back The Beat" and "Oh My Lord," but there really is no song that you would skip over. They are that good. This is the best yet of Ringo since the 1973 "Ringo" LP which featured "Photograph."

Do not judge the CD by listening to the samples. I almost didn't buy it because the samples were just like a picture from a movie. You need to hear the entire thing to appreciate it.

Thanks Ringo and Mark for a great CD!

Free Music Review: Turn it up even w/ the windows rolled down!
Hit: 5 Stars

O.K. I admit it- I love Ringo's stuff. Especially all of his albums from Time Takes Time up to his latest, Y Not.

However, raise your hand if you are a Ringo fan who might tend to turn the volume down on some of his music if your are at a stop light with the windows rolled down. I mean, "La De Da" from Vertical Man is not a bad song. However, you won't find me cranking it while stopped in traffic (especially with a car load of teenage girls next to me).

However, you can take pride in blasting anything from Choose Love, in any situation. Folks, this is real rock and it's great stuff.

There is not one slow moment on this one. Great from start to finish- Almost shockingly so.

Simply put, this is his best album. Yes, even including the 1973 "Ringo" album. Come to think of it, I like any of his last 5 albums better than the Ringo album.

So, if you haven't had the pleasure yet get this one and crank it unashamedly!

Free Music Review: Ringo's best...ever
Hit: 5 Stars

I never thought I'd be saying this in 2005, but Ringo Starr has delivered his best album ever. I love much of his early '70s work ("Ringo" and "Goodnight Vienna" in particular), but this one really does take the cake. The songs are all short, catchy, energetic, contain a few artsy touches of unpredictability while entirely maintaining focus, and have a great early Beatles feel to them. Ringo is in fantastic voice, his drumming is excellent, and his backing band is topnotch. The album's production also has a very classic feel, and it all sounds fresh even after multiple listenings. No filler on the CD either; every song is truly a standout. (Although if I had to name some favorites, they'd be "Fading In Fading Out", "Give Me Back The Beat" and "Free Drinks.") Hope he brings this stuff out on tour!
