Free Music Review: Just a Stroll
Hit: 2 Stars

Maybe it's me! I really think "Liverpool 8" takes 5 or 6 steps back to Ringo's last few CD's that were strictly produced by Mark Hudson.

Most people will more than likely disagree with me here - but I think Ringo's voice sounds strained or at least a bit weaker than his last bunch of albums done with The Roundheads.

Somehow, someway, Hudson had a way to "compress" Ringo's voice and give it "punch".

The title track is fine, ("Liverpool 8") the song that talks about Ringo's buddy "Harry" is fine too. But that's all the highlights for me.

Also disappointing is the USB "Wristband" which contains all the tracks, two "ringtones" (Yawwnnn!) and the front and backside pics of the album. What, no lyrics??? Also, where are the comments behind each song? Is that meant to be both the video and comments put together? Ringo, please do us fans a favor UNDERsell your products and OVERdeliver!!! Maybe it's time to leave EMI/Capitol too - like Paul!!!

Again, "Liverpool 8" is O.K. It's just I don't feel Richie boogying on this album. It seems like just a stroll.

Free Music Review: I won't be buying it

I saw Ringo perform the title cut on Letterman and it cannot be any cornier or sappier. It was really not very good. I know he's Ringo and he was a Beatle but there is a reason why he is the only one not inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist and this album proves it. I was there in 1964 to watch the Beatles on Ed Sullivan so don't think I am just some kid trying to rile everyone. Ringo has always been looked on affectionately because he was a Beatle but truth be told...his singing and writing skills leave a lot to be desired. Again on the strength of the one song..the song that is being touted as the big hit...I won't be buying it.

A sad disappointment. I should have realized that Ringo and I were "over" in the 70's. Sigh. Another old Beatles fan goes and hides under her bed.

Free Music Review: Ringo is trying
Hit: 2 Stars

Ringo had a few good songs but the cd was not great. But the price was correct.

Free Music Review: Very lackluster
Hit: 1 Stars

At 68 years old we can all say it's a good thing Ringo is still in the game. However, it's another thing when the game consists of the same old repetitive songwriting formula over and over and over again. The songs are overly simplistic, lyrics are cheesy (and predictable) and his drumming is sadly nondescript. His production technique attempts to infuse the songs with the Beatle sound with backwards guitar loops, phasing vocals, etc. but the result comes across as forced and certainly rehashed and in the end this has a lot to do with the fact the songs are just flat out weak. Ringo needs to decide on what he wants to do. Does he want to make albums for the sake of making albums or does he want to put a solid, inspired product out. I don't buy the nonsense that he's "just Ringo". He was a Beatle and he himself knows he's selling himself short when he releases this type of dribble. My suggestion is he align himself with some new blood, new songwriters and some musicians with fire in their belly. Even at his age, he is capable of so much more than what he gives us on this CD.
