Free Music Notes for Appeal To ReasonFree Music Review: Worth Buying Hit: 4 Stars
If i could have given 3 and a half stars I would have, but I rounded up. This could be their weakest album or close to it, but it still sounds like Rise Against and it is still a good album. Long time fans of the band are going to notice that they've moved even further away from the hardcore sound they developed in The Unraveling and Revolutions Per Minute. This could be a positive or negative depending on who you are. For me, Appeal to Reason sounds a little overproduced, a little too poppy.
As for the songs, unfortunately, there are not as many memorable songs like in previous albums. Almost every song from previous albums got and still get constant play-throughs on my ipod, but that is not the case with Appeal to Reason. However, there are some great songs. "Audience of One" is definitely a stand out track. It would have fit perfectly with the songs on Siren Song for The Counter Culture which is a good thing if you're me. "Hero of War" is also incredible. It is one of the most powerful songs about war i've ever heard. "Kotov Syndrome", "Collapse (Post-Amerika),", and "Savior" are all great punk songs. A lot of the other songs are not as memorable.
Overall Rise Against delivered a good album but this is not their strongest effort. Definitely still worth buying, though.
Free Music Review: A concise review Hit: 4 Stars
If you liked Rise Against before this album and were a fan most especially of their first two albums, The Unraveling and Revolutions Per Minute, then you will be disappointed.
If you are considering this album because you like the song Savior, slowly walk away from your computer and erase every trace of Rise Against from your memory. You are not worthy.
If you are a pretty moderate RA fan, then you will probably like this album.
We have progressively seen RA get softer throughout the years in their albums, AtR makes no exception. It is the most pop-sounding, soft album yet. There is nothing reminiscent of The Unraveling/RPM music.
That said, the music isn't terrible, and like every RA album, there is no bad song, even Savior has some redeeming qualities.
I must admit though, I very much like the lyrics of AtR and consider them top-quality RA. Nothing bad here. Plus, it's Tim McIlrath- he literally makes EVERYTHING sound better.
AtR is RA's worst album yet. Only one I would give less than 5 stars. It's still good, don't get me wrong, but nothing near previous ones.
If this is the direction RA is going, God help us all. We need another RPM.
Free Music Review: MOSTLY good Hit: 4 Stars
I liked pretty mutch all of the songs in the album except for 2. Kotov Syndrome and Hero of war. Kotov syndrome was just kind of annoying and i have had this song stuck in my head for about FIVE months, Im tired of it. Hero of war actualy sounded great but was, how should I put this, in bad taste. The part after the first chorus was a lie, and the military never does that. The part after the second chorus was better but still really bad.(Hold up your flag woman!)
Free Music Review: Meh... Hit: 4 Stars
I Got this cd because I liked the song "audience of one" and "savior". Those songs are pretty cool and maybe worth getting the whole cd for. I dont know why but the rest of the cd seemed kindve lame, like there wasnt anything mind blowing or new. It got old really fast. but maybe thats just me...
Free Music Review: RISE AGAINST CD: 2008. Hit: 4 Stars
There's some good songs on this record, that sound like they were inspired by Punk music. Then there is also a metal edge to it as well. After that though, it does go off in other directions, that might detract from the overall sound of the band.
