Free Music Notes for EscapologyFree Music Review: ... Hit: 5 Stars
He is certainly the most sexy guy on earth and and mega super star in Germany anyway so I might be a *little* biased, but the album IS great. Of course, it doesn't reach its predecessor "Sing when you're winning" which would get 6 stars out of 5 but it is great nonetheless. Highlight are FEEL (great video clip, btw) as well as the other single releases COME UNDONE and SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL, and ME AND MY MONKEY. The best song of the album (and ever, I'd even say) is LOVE SOMEBODY - this is so epic... Which is a little sad, however, is that the American version is different from the European version. HOT FUDGE is definitely missing on this album. But your bonus track are not bad either :-D
So please, do buy this album, I swear you won't regret it! And if you EVER have the chance to see this guy in concert, do it before he's really really big in the US and you will have to wait 15 hours just to be in the 1st row at a 70000 people concert... He is such a great entertainer!!! Luv ya Robbie!!
Free Music Review: Falling In Love With Robbie All Over Again Hit: 5 Stars
As a long time fan of Mr. Williams, I can finally say I am proud of dear Robbie. After a slightly dissapointing Sing When Your Winning, Escapology is like a breath of fresh air. Ranging from mellow acoustic sounds (Nan's Song), to crazy rock tracks with gritty lyrics (Cursed), Escapology is like a well polished eclectic mix of true Robbie. Stuffed full of his overinflated ego, humor, and what seems to be a cynical or broken heart, Robbie gives us the Robbie we've come to love, but with an edge. How Peculiar carries off an Oasis like sound, but the gorgeous originality of Mariachi like Me And My Monkey made up for it well. It seems dear ol' Rob has matured, writing lyrically-amazing songs from a torn, pessimistic soul (Monsoon), but retains that lovable bouncy cheekiness we love (Hot Fudge). How does he do it? Or more importantly, how can we resist? I couldn't help it, once I let this record spin a few times I felt my self falling in love with Mr. Williams all over again. Definatly a winner.
Free Music Review: Another Robbie Classic Hit: 5 Stars
How exciting that Robbie Williams' work is finally getting a big push here in the US.For those new to RW, this CD is just another great addition to an already impressive catalog of music that RW has built up in the last 6 years. This is not, however, your traditional American pop music. The lyrics are funny yet meaningful, the instrumentation and musical arrangements are original, and it's just an all-around GOOD album. I was shocked (and pleased) when I heard "Feel" on the radio a few weeks ago, and hope that it (and a few other REALLY good songs on this album - Handsome Man, Something Beautiful, etc - succeeds in breaking RW into the American scene. Also highly recommend Sing When You're Winning (one of my favorite 'pop' records ever) Life Through a Lens, and I've Been Expecting You (the latter two were condensed and released in the USA as "The Ego Has Landed") .. great entertainer, and well worth the risk if you've never heard his music before.
Free Music Review: I guess I was wrong! This CD is much better than I thought! Hit: 5 Stars
Okay, in my previous review I had said that there were only two incredible songs on Escapology. I have to admit that I went back to listen to it and realized that I was wrong. I think that there are many incredible songs on this CD, including "Feel", "Sexed Up", "Something Beautiful", "Revolution", "Me and My Monkey", and "Nan's Song". I kind of like "Love Somebody" and "The World's Most Handsome Man", but I'm not totally convinced. The first one of these two begins great, but then it becomes sort of dark and bitter. The second one of these two sounds a bit like today's alternative sound, which I don't like very much. I've been thinking it could be liked in the U.S. I think that this CD combines some brilliant writing and humor; two of Robbie's qualities that I admire and appreciate very much. "Dear God, would you please make Americans see Robbie's amazing talent?"
Free Music Review: The most impressive CD this year Hit: 5 Stars
At first sound, one might think that Robbie has done a total 360 from his risky songs, and bad boy lyrics, but don't let the smooth sounds fool you! It is amazing how Robbie is able to create such a beautiful melody in the track, "Sexed Up"; yet, he is still able to throw in the phrase 'screw you'. Nonetheless, the CD is top of the line...if I had to take one CD onto a deserted island, this would be it. Please do not be disenchanted because of other Robbie Williams songs you have heard, or by the idea that he is a "typical Brit postar". Escapology truely is sinfully listenable, and never tiresome. It is perfectly blended with a mixture of soft songs, to rock songs, to songs that seems to have a more 'oldies' vibe (take for instance "Something Beautiful"). A few of my favorites of the CD are "Feel", "Sexed Up", "Revolution", and "Something Beautiful".
