I've listened to a number of praise and worship recordings, and this is certainly amongst the most energetic, most joyous, most passionate. In fact, if you want a secular comparison, think of Frampton Comes Alive. Yes, Revival In Belfast is that good when it comes to letting you feel as if you're right there and being swept up in the moment. Mark is an excellent singer/songwriter, he has top-flight musicians backing him up (such as members of the esteemed Celtic Christian rock group Iona) and a spirit-filled choir. Just as important, the production is first-rate...the choir is up-front with Mark, you can hear his acoustic guitar clearly, and the audience is perfectly balanced with the music. Finally, check out those songs...Shout To The North and Days Of Elijah are so rollicking good I challenge you to turn off the CD player in the middle of them! On the other hand, Be Unto Your Name and How Great Are You Lord and gently worshipful, wonderful and filled with the joy of the Father. If I have one quibble, it's a very minor one: at least three of the CD's 11 songs start just like U2's Where The Streets Have No Name. You'll notice it after awhile, but by then you'll be caught up in the energy and passion of the album so it likely won't matter.
