Free Music Notes for Rock StarFree Music Review: Movie rocks, soundtracks rocks! Hit: 5 Stars
First, Steelheart is NOT Steel Dragon (although Steelheart's singer does sing some of the songs). Second, Mark Walberg didn't sing in the movie - he lip-synched everything over the vocals of Mike Matijevic (Steelheart) or Jeff Scott Soto. Still, I think he gave an incredible performance in the movie. Steel Dragon (the fictional band in the movie) is in reality Zakk Wylde (Ozzy Osbourne's guitarist), Jeff Pilson (Dokken's bass player), and Jason Bonham (the son of Led Zepplin's drummer), and Nick Cantonese (guitar). These musicians also appear in the movie, and do a good job. The six Steel Dragon songs on the soundtrack are solid and raucous and anthemic, with plenty of melodic hooks, screaming guitars solos, and lots of bottom end bass and drums. Steel Dragon covers the old Ritchie Blackmore/Ronnie James Dio song "Long Live Rock and Roll." The great legendary Sammy Hagar even wrote one of the songs - Stand Up - performed by Steel Dragon. Modern bands such as Everclear and The Verve Pipe adds songs to the CD, along with 80s rockers like Bon Jovi, Ted Nugent, Motley Crue and KISS.
Free Music Review: The Greatest Soundtrack Ever! Hit: 5 Stars
After seeing the hit movie, "Rock Star" I longed to get my hands on the phenomenal soundtrack. Remember all those excellent songs you heard in the movie done by Steel Dragon? All of those songs are included on this soundtrack (Livin The Life, We All Die Young, Blood Pollution, Stand Up, Wasted Generation and Long Live Rock and Roll). Those tunes are outstanding done by the real band. Included in the soundtrack are outstanding tunes by other famous Heavy Metal bands such as KISS with "Lick It Up", Motley Crue with "Wild Side", Bon Jovi with "Livin On A Prayer" and many more. And remember that song Mark Wahlberg sang at the end with his band in that night club "Colorful." That song is here, too and that song is outstanding.
This soundtrack is the ultimate. It's pure rock and roll, has out-of-this-world guitar riffs, banging drum beats and outstanding vocal performances by all the contributing singers.
For those people that love the movie, now own this CD. I got this for Christmas and absolutely love it.
Free Music Review: AWESOME MOVIE AND SOUNDTRACK Hit: 5 Stars
I didn't get to see Rock Star in the movies so I was waiting anxiously for it to come on DVD. Last weekend I finally got to watch it and not only did i LOVE the movie, the MUSIC was THE BEST! I grew up listening to all of the 80's heavy metal / hair bands and I have to say this soundtrack is just pumping! I'm listening to it right now! :) The high pitched vocals and the guitar playing / metal sound was bringing me back into the 80s all over again! I'm glad to say that they brought some of this music back in 2000 when they came out with this movie. Every song is superb....from Bon Jovi, Kiss, etc...but I'm really enjoying the Steel Dragon Songs the best, especially "Stand Up and Shout" and "We All Die Young." The movie also rocked!! Mark Walhberg was an awesome actor and I LOVED Dominic West's performance as Kirk Cuddy!! He is an outstanding actor...(can't stop watching him and love his accent!) For you 80's heavy metal fans.....get the CD....it's worth every penny!!
Free Music Review: LONG LIVE TO HARD ROCK AND ROLL!! Hit: 5 Stars
Rock Star is the picture of 80's Metal sleaze scene. Forget about the end of of the movie, whatever. Steel Dragon rocks... Oh, Blood Pollution (Heaviest bass of Jeff Pilson), Wasted Generation (Lyrics about the pathetic up-coming end), Livin The Life (Spirit of the Movie!!), Stand Up (The outsmashing bass of the drums of Jason Bonham makes your heart stop for a few seconds), Long Live Rock N'Roll (Jeff Scott Soto and Zakk Wylde teaching Dio and Blackmore hahahha), Reckless (Criticize new bands), Colorful (Pathetic grunge band "The Verve Pipe") and finally, We All Die Young, (amazing performance of Steeheart's Mike Mijatevic). Rockers: Vocals: Mike Mijatevic (Steeheart), Jeff Scott Soto (Y. Malmsteen) Guitars: Zakk Wylde (Ozzy) Bass: Jeff Pilson (Dokken) Drums: Jason Bonham (Jason Bonham Band)Oh... And we still have Livin On A Prayer (Bon Jovi), Wild Side (Mötley Crüe) and Lick It Up (Kiss) Extremely amazing!!!
Free Music Review: Metal in the spotlight Hit: 5 Stars
What's great about a soundtrack like this is to listen to it before you see the movie and go in pumped to hear it blasted over a huge screen. All of the songs are featured in some way during the movie but the Steel Dragon songs really stand out. I would have preferred a soundtrack with just their originals. Great, heavy, high octane fuel for any hard rock fan. Zakk Wylde does his usual guitar wizardry on these songs which are all done very well. The last track by Trevor Rabin is an instrumental mixture of material that should have been longer. Mark Wahlberg is very believable in the movie especially in 2 scenes where he is singing Steel Dragon songs. The other songs from that era blend nicely into each other although "Devil Inside" by INXS seems out of place. It's an appropiate song from them but it's not a rockin' tune. Overall, the album is very polished and deserves many listens by all metal fans.
