Free Music Notes for Rocket Ship BeachFree Music Review: Great music for kids and parents Hit: 5 Stars
I ordered this album for my 3 year old son after reading about it in the NY Times. I was hoping for an album that my kid would enjoy that wouldn't drive his parents crazy. This album is fun, very well produced, simple, and includes really creative, stripped-down versions of a lot of classic kids' songs. The originals are very good, too. The arrangements are simple and well produced, and the musicianship is solid without being showy. Its sort of like listening to "The Band" work their way through Mother Goose. My son loves it, and I find it more listenable than alot of the other music marketed to adults these days. I reccomend it to any parent or child that wants to hear fun music that isn't sugar coated or condescending. You can tell that the folks who made this (Dan Zayne, et al) really care about kids and don't care for heavy handed production.
Free Music Review: rocket ship beach review Hit: 5 Stars
Rocket Ship Beach was my introduction to Dan Zanes. I have a new son and I was searching for some music we could both enjoy. I found this and thought I would give it a shot. The cd is wonderful. The music is addicting and I find myself driving down the road singing to myself....without my son in the car! Polly Wolly Doodle, the first track, is one of my favorites (and not because I am a Sheryl Crow fan). Another beautiful song is "Hello". This cd is upbeat, fun and yet different from some more typical childrens music. My son really enjoys the different sounds and rhythms on the cd. The cd has a few little introductions where you can hear children, a phone ringing, ect. This cd is sure to put you in a good mood. I highly recommend it! I am actually waiting for another Dan Zanes cd to arrive I liked it so much.
Free Music Review: Can't say enough... Hit: 5 Stars
I honestly can't say enough...I recently went on a mad search for "listenable" children's music and fortunately Rocket Ship Beach was recommended. I purchased about 10 other children's CDs at the time and this one is the definite favorite! My 2 1/2 year old requests "Goodbye Old Paint" at least once a day and it hasn't even started to drive me crazy. Every track is great! I'm thankful for Dan Zanes and company daily. I bought "Family Dance" (his 2nd CD) as well, and while it's good, "Rocket Ship Beach" gets more air time. I would buy them both, but if you need a place to start go with "Rocket Ship Beach".
Free Music Review: This is the one you need - honest. Hit: 5 Stars
My family knows every single stinkin' word, every note, every sound on this album and I'm not afraid to admit it. Anyone who is reviewing this album on the basis of beat or pitch needs to go sit in the corner of their music theory class and pray for the funbat to smack 'em where the sun don't shine. We were afraid that teaching our toddler the White Album from beginning to end might permanently damage her psyche. Thanks, Dan, for saving her for the future. Anyone who gets the opportunity to see this music performed live should run, not walk with their tykes and soak it all up. Dancing to this music live with my two year old was the best show, ever.
Free Music Review: Singin' Along to Rocket Ship Beach Hit: 5 Stars
This is just about the best children's cd our family of four has ever heard (the only one to come close so far is John Lithgow's "Singing in the Bathtub"). We keep it in the car for long and short trips, and my husband and I find ourselves playing it even when the kids are nowhere in sight. My 6 year-old son's favorite song is "King Kong Kitchie", my 2 1/2 year-old daughter's is "Bushel and a Peck" - but every track is great. Great singing, great musicians, and fun and love in every tune. Can't wait for Dan and Friends to come out with another cd.
