Free Music Notes for It Had to Be You... The Great American SongbookFree Music Review: This CD has "Class" Hit: 5 Stars
Talk about a classy CD - this is it. He makes the old standards new again to those of us who remember them! I'd put him up against Sinatra or Bennett any old day, the songs are that much fun to listen to (not to mention "slow dancing!!)Give Grannie a copy for her birthday and don't tell her he's a rocker - she'll love it and wonder why the younger kids are even listening!!! I could listen to it for hours, and notice it being played when I go out - at the dentist's office, the mall, even a little restaurant during dinner. Rod Stewart is now number 1 in my CD cabinet!!
Free Music Review: A New Sound For The Old Songs Hit: 5 Stars
This is Rod Stewart at his romantic best!!! He and the great musicians like Dave Koz on "These Foolish Things" put a modern spin and breathe new life into some of the best love songs ever written. You'll want to sing every word and dance your feet off. They truly give you "That Old Feeling". Rod's rendition of "That's All" was a perfect finish to a CD you won't want to end. Baby boomers (and their parents!) will love this one. Thank you, Mr. Stewart. I can't think of anyone who could have made these songs sound sweeter. "It Had To Be You"!

Free Music Review: Makes me want to sing along Hit: 5 Stars
As an older baby boomer, I just loved Rod Stewart's sexy rendering of some great old songs. The words are spectacular, and Stewart sings with feeling, as well as being backed up with great instrumentation. I bought the album for my husband as a Christmas gift, and he has honestly enjoyed the tunes. He wasn't a Rod Stewart fan, but he now has a new appreciation for the crooner. We brought the album to our friends' house for New Years Eve and now they own their own "It Had To Be You" CD. I highly recommend this album and hope Rod follows up with another similar one.
Free Music Review: Aging gracefully Hit: 5 Stars
Old farthood can be defined as when you start liking your parents' music more than your kids'. Rod Stewart singing the old classics makes it easier to bear the pain of admitting that deep down, we loved Sinatra, and Porter and Cole and the myriad other singers of classic songs of love.
Stewart is the ideal vehicle for this collection. Young enough to have a bona fide rock background, he's now old enough (and savvy enough!) to mine a smoother brand of music.
Thanks, Rod, for translating these old classics into an idiom worth listening to!
