Free Music Notes for No Respect

Free Music Review: A Classic...
Hit: 5 Stars

I've heard a lot of standup albums and this is one of the best. In my opinion Rodney Dangerfield was right up there with Henny Youngman in terms of his ability to deliver one liners, and he made it seem easy. Some of the jokes here became so popular and so frequently told that I already knew them when I first heard this CD, which is a testament to Rodney Dangerfield's talent. There are so many great lines on this disc; my favorites are the ones Rodney makes about his wife cheating on him, such as: "Last night I asked the bartender to surprise me. He showed me a naked picture of my wife." I had the priviledge of seeing Rodney live in 2001, when he was 80 years old. He hadn't lost any of his ability to break up an audience, and had his trademark red tie on and constantly dabbed his forehead with a handkerchief. He performed for nearly two hours and by the time it was over I felt lightheaded from laughing so hard. Rodney Dangerfield is a true legend of comedy and will be missed.

Free Music Review: We miss you Rodney!
Hit: 5 Stars

We lost a great man this past year. Nobody, I repeat, nobody will be able to replace or repeat what Rodney Dangerfield did to comedy. For those that do not know of which I speak, listen to this album. This is the epitome of genius and of Rodney Dangerfield. His interaction with the audience is phenomenal. From his opening line he has them hooked. What is great about this album is that you can tell that he would have been nothing short of brilliant to see live in concert. I especially loved the Q&A at the end which allowed us to laugh even harder while going deeper into this comic's mind. I will miss this guy. The day I heard about his death I listened to this album and watched Back to School. You will be missed Rodney!

Grade: ***** out of *****

Free Music Review: I Respect Rodney
Hit: 5 Stars

In 1980, Rodney Dangerfield was at the height of his popularity and at the top of his form. That year his landmark comedy album "No Respect" was released. It went on to win the Grammy Award for best comedy album of the year. It wasn't until 2000 that "No Respect" was finally released on CD, but it's well worth the wait. It is the definitive Rodney album, and contains many classic bits. The jokes come frequent, fast and furious. Here's one example. "Today's been a terrible day. I got up this morning, picked up my shirt and a button fell off. I picked up my briefcase and the handle fell off. I'm afraid to go to the bathroom!" I just hope that the album "Rappin' Rodney" follows suit and is released on CD.

Free Music Review: 41 minutes of laughs
Hit: 5 Stars

Rodney Dangerfield provides plenty of laughs here; mostly one liners about his health, his wife, his kids and his sex life (or lack of it).

He uses the occasional expletetive but not too many. If you're a fan of his from movies like Caddyshack and Back To School then you're likely to enjoy his humour. If you don't know who he is then don't worry because even if you don't find every gag funny, he shoots them off so fast that you'll be laughing at the next one anyway.

Near the end of the disc he takes questions from the audience and fires back some funny responses. I just wish the disc was longer.

Free Music Review: Classic Rodney! Tons of laughs.
Hit: 5 Stars

Rodney Dangerfield was a very gifted comedian. There is no one who can take his place.

This cd is one of his best. The laughs start at once and don't end until he finally says "Sorry people shows over!" The crowd was ,(me included) left begging for more. He does a great encore, and even tangles with hecklers and fields questions from the audience, all with his brilliant humor, snappy timing and lightning fast comebacks.

I can never get enough Rodney. If you are new to him, this would make for an excellent introduction.

He will be missed!

Have fun laughing your butt off!
