Free Music Notes for In the Flesh LiveFree Music Review: Waters at his best Hit: 5 StarsListening to this CD, I felt I was at a live show. Light some candles, burn the incense, and crank it up! A must have for Floyd fans. Most excellent!
Free Music Review: Wish They were Here Hit: 4 StarsThis is spoken by Roger after the renditon of "Wish You Were Here". I wonder who he was talking about. Any thoughts? However I love this CD. If your looking for Floyd tunes played note for note, sound for sound. Look elsewhere. The songs have a new groove and a wild guitar sound by Andy Fairweather Low That Dave would have killed for. I hated to say that but it's true. I'm as big a Gilmour fan as anyone, but when "shine On" and 'Saucerfull..." started to jam i was hooked. It's the Dave sound with a new twist. Which is what Floyd music should be all about. Do you think they played "Intersteller Overdrive " the same way twice?
Free Music Review: Tremendous album Hit: 5 StarsI attended the show in Mountain View, CA during this tour and it was so great to see him do these classic songs, now I can relive the experience with this double cd. I got it a few weeks ago and have listened to it and enjoyed it many many times. The live version of 'Perfect Sense' is a reigious experience and 'The Bravery of Being Out of Range' is very relevant to today's events. There are songs here from everyone one of his albums since Dark Side of the Moon including the first albums side of Animals.. however nothing from Radio KAOS. It would have been nice to at least heard the song 'Home' from that album. The production is so good that I didn't mind a little 'cheating': Waters uses the studio version of his voice for a high part on 'In Every Stranger's Eyes' and other singers sing his parts when the notes get too high. But all in all it's still great, well rounded, and great guitar work even without David Gilmour. Wonderful! A must for Pink Floyd fans!
Free Music Review: Superb, but takes a little time to get into Hit: 5 StarsThis is a wonderful album. If you ar a Floyd fan, you may initially be disappointed in this piece of work, but I suggest you listen, then listen again. Although we haven't got the guitar genius of Dave Gilmour here, there is plenty to satisfy all. There isn't the fullness in sound that you would initially expect, but if you stick with it, you'll realise that everything a Floyd fan would expect is here. Buy this album, listen to it then listen to it again. you won't be disappointed.
Free Music Review: Thanks, Roger Hit: 5 StarsIf anyone out there is still interested in true musical genuis, you may want to pick up this album. I saw the live show four times, and I must say the album doesn't do the live show much justice, but how could it? It is amazing what Roger can do without the old bandmates, he puts together an amazing set of live Floyd and solo work using the instrumentation and talent that he has available. All the people in his band are highly skilled musicians, truely talented people. And to those who complain about what is lacking in his sound, or any shortcomings you may find as you try to compare this work to the original floyd, I can only say this. Roger Waters did not have to go to such great lengths as to put together a tour at all. I'm sure he has plenty of money already, so I would assume he did this for his fans. Keep in mind the man is nearly 60 years old, so don't expect his to sound like he did 25 years ago. Despite his age the music was still incredible, as many people I know who are regular concert goers, myself as well, have said that it was by far the most amazing show they have ever seen. This is coming from people who go to shows of all types, rap, rock, and everthing in between. Roger Waters doesn't have anything left to prove, Pink Floyd have sold more that twice as many albums as Madonna. So if you are expecting something crazy and new or if you think flying war pigs should be included in the sleeve, look elsewhere. But if you want to hear some good old Floyd played on a smaller, more "real" scale, you'll like this.
