Free Music Notes for The Rolling Stones Now!Free Music Review: Amazing, Simply Amazing Hit: 5 StarsThe guitar work, the way Brian and Keith weave their way through this record, is a joy to listen to and reason enough to own it, never mind the fine songs. I really like that they've included the long version of "Everybody Needs Somebody to Love" rather than the much shorter single version, because it's a song I really like. Rolling Stone Magazine lists this record as number 181 on their list of the best five hundred records ever made. I'd probably put it in my top hundred. This is the third Stones album to come out in the States and once again they rock down the house with a Chuck Berry number "You Can't Catch Me," but the real gem on this record is their cover version of Willie Dixon's "Little Red Rooster." The numbers written by Mick and Keith are pretty darned good too. Brian Jones is amazing, simply amazing, as is this must own masterpiece.
Free Music Review: Baby you gotta good thing goin' Hit: 5 StarsThis is the best of the Stones. Although Brian Jones had his personal idiosyncracies you can't fault him on his musical accomplishments. Rhythm guitar and harp playing are what made this band come together. The whole organization is kept moving by Charlie Watts who is the standout artist on this particular outing. His rim crashes make each one of these tunes a keeper. By recording in three blues locations the band overcomes any black/white analogies, criticisms etc. With the help of Muddy Waters et al they learned their roots and weren't afraid to demonstrate them on this master disc. 'Now' points to the blues and each guitar and drum beat make this a house rockin' band which grabs you immediately. This is still the way it feels after 40 years. Right on!
Free Music Review: Classic STONES!!!!!!! Hit: 5 StarsThis is awesome The original stones as they were when we knew them. My stepson and His mother and I were able to really enjoy this album together as a family. Kids these days wish they had new groups like THE STONES.
Free Music Review: Oh Brian we miss you ! Hit: 4 StarsBrian Jones loved blues and rythm and blues and that was the vision he had for the Stones. In their first five albums they stayed true to his vision and they have never been better. There is not a bad cut. This album kicked ass in the sixties and it still does.
Buy it, play it, think of how it was and how it could be again.
Free Music Review: Another Stones R & B Winner Hit: 5 StarsAnother 'to the point' assesment of a Stones album. Released in early '65 the " Now " album again shows the bands strength in the area of rythem and blues. Th Stones top 40 release during this period was, " Heart of Stone ' & " What a Shame ". Although Jagger & Richards only wrote 4 of the 11 songs on THIS disc, their efforts were good. Again one has to remember that Brian Jones was a collaborator in almost all these efforts. The 4 songs by the 'boys' are good R & B efforts. Excellent guitar work and great lyrics. They proceeded to continue making other peoples songs ( the other 7 cuts ) even better than the originals. A definite buy and hold.
