Free Music Notes for Shine a Light - O.S.T. (Dlx) (Ocrd)Free Music Review: The Boys Show How It's Done Yet Again!! Hit: 5 Stars
Wow. Although I saw the Stones 4 times during the Bigger Bang tour (including the Atlantic City show!) and felt they were superb, I was a little apprehensive about this new live soundtrack. Would it be just another live rendering of their greatest tunes yet again...?
The answer is a resounding NO!! These guys have captured, yet again, just what the spirit and excitement of rock 'n roll is all about. Certainly the unusual set list is a big factor here (Loving Cup, Some Girls and She Was Hot for starters!).
But it's the sheer zeal and love for playing this music, along with the excellence of Mick's singing and the band's playing that comes through song after song. It IS the best live Stones album since Ya-Ya's.
Utimately the CD just reminds me all over again why I've been such a huge Stones fan all my life. I hope this CD puts the band straight back up to #1 on the charts...they deserve it! Rock on guys.

Turn up the volume on the blues-drenched Champagne & Reefer - featuring an incredible performance by Buddy Guy - and watch the roof explode off the home.
That song alone makes the soundtrack an absolute must purchase. But the other 21 tracks are classic Stones in venues where substance merges with style to deliver material not cluttered with overt posturing and post-production overdubs. Got live if you want it, indeed.
Mick Jagger is at his satirical best on Some Girls and Faraway Eyes. Tears Go By and Paint It Black provide some of the most powerful/poignant moments. And the rhythm is driven by the sharp drumming of Charlie Watts, who remains the key musician in the mix.
The Rolling Stones wrote the book on concerts as extravaganzas. The soundtrack proves the band can still deliver the goods without the glitz and glamor of grandiose stadium settings.
Free Music Review: THE GREATEST ROCK BAND THE WORLD WILL EVER KNOW Hit: 5 Stars
O F ME ! The new Stones live album is so good I can not come up with enough superlatives to describe it. OK but Mick can: Its a Gas gas gas ? Im stumblin and I know I play a bad guitar ? Thank you Jesus, thank you Lord ? Don't you know the deuce is still wild ? May the good lord shine a light on you, make every song your favorite tune ? I see a red door... well you KNOW. Champagne and Reefer is the Blues with Buddy Guy and is MOST VERY excellent. I can not access my iTunes library because I have it all on my crap WD X drive and Amazon can not get the disc here before Monday as I missed the one day ship time. SO I am going to get it the old fashioned way. Because I MUST HAVE IT NOW. By driving to the record store. GASP ! Do we still HAVE record stores ? This disc is to the Stones what Love was to the Beatles. LTR

Free Music Review: shine a light indeed Hit: 5 Stars
Wouldn't have thought it could happen, but this is the best live Stones album since "Ya Yas".
Mick's vocals haven't been this unaffected in years, the guitars are suitably cutting - Keith and Ron have the blend working here - the mix is hot, and the set list is more than a pleasant surprise.
Not everything works: "As Tears Go By" is rather wooden,
"Faraway Eyes" will never transcend the level of joke, and the band just doesn't have the soul to do soul classics justice: "Just My Imagination".
But these are minor complaints because what does work on this album comes ripping out of the speakers with a vengeance. Check out "She Was Hot" for starters.
We all know it can't last forever, but for old Stones fans "Shine a Light" is a gift from the rock 'n' roll gods. Rock on gentlemen.
Free Music Review: Not Just Another Live Rolling Stones Album Hit: 5 Stars
When I first heard that The Rolling Stones were releasing a double live set on CD, I thought "here they go again with yet another live album." In the '90s they actually released more live albums than studio albums. Fans already owning the Four Flicks DVD set didn't need the Live Licks collection for sure. But being the Stones fanatic I am, I went out and bought it anyway. It opens with 'Jumpin' Jack Flash,' a typical concert opener. But then along comes 'She Was Hot,' the first surprise of Shine of Light. It's from the harshly criticized Undercover. This one is filled with concert rarities-'Loving Cup,' 'As Tears Go By,' 'Some Girls,' 'You Got the Silver,' 'Connection,' 'I'm Free,' and 'Shine a Light.' This is the best live Rolling Stones album since Get Your Ya-Yas Out.
