Free Music Review: The best of the 80's!
Hit: 5 Stars

Of all the albums The Rolling Stones released in the 1980's Steel Wheels is easily the best. Tatto You is good but oh boy it doesnt even compare to this! Steel Wheels is one of the best albums The Rolling Stones ever released, I truly can not under stand why more people dont love this album. It's not full of reggea crap, or fuled by dancy disco beats like all their other 80's albums, no this is a straight on rock album, and it sure is the hardest rocking album The Rolling Stones have ever released. This album has killer guitar playing by Keith and Ronnie, check 'Hold On To Your Hat' if you dont beleaive me. The rythym of Bill and Charlie is excelent and Mick's vocals are raw and powerful!

Steel Wheels opens with the hard rocking 'Sad, Sad, Sad' which totaly sets the pace for the rest of the album. 'Mixed Emotions' was the big hit off Steel Wheels and is one of the best songs Mick and Keith have ever written together, it's a song that all Stones fans know. 'Terrifying' is my favorite song on the album, it's slow and sexy and yet hard and heavy all at the same time, it is trult one of my all time favorite Rolling Stone songs ever! 'Hold On To Your Hat' is a hard guitar driven rocker. If you ever wondered why the Rolling Stones are the greatest guitar players club ever or ever doubted Keith or Ronnie's chops the please take a listen to this and ease your mind! 'Hearts For Sale' is a slower bluesyer number with great vocals my Mick and a really cool chorus. One of the better songs on the album is you ask my openion. 'Blinded By Love' is a almost country flavored song with pretty cool production behind Jagger's vocals and is a pretty beautiful song. 'Rock And A Hard Place' was released as a single but never went anywhere and I dont understand why, It's a really great song. Maybe it had something to do with the horriable music video they made for it? 'Cant be Seen' is a Keith Richards sung track and is one of the best songs that man has ever made with The Rolling Stones, it sounds like something he would have done on his solo projects with The X-Pensive Winos. A great song! 'Almost Hear You Sigh' is a nice ballad by Mick with excelent vocals and great vocals, especially the baking vocals by Ronnie. Now 'Continetal Drift' is a strange song that not a lot of people like. So when the boys do reggea every one loves it but when they use bongo's and African beats eveyone hates it, whats up with that. It's a cool song and almost sounds like The Police. 'Break The Spell' is a nice slid guitar driven song that sounds like Classic Rolling Stones, awesome song! The album ends with the Keith Richards sung 'Slipping Away' which is a nice little summer song thats perfect for the beach and really is a great way to call and end to an amazing album!

The problem that many Rolling Stones fans have is that they look at the "CLASSIC PERIOD" from Beggers through Exile and they think that thats all their is, thats all the good albums the boys ever made. Well it's just not true. I'm telling you that everything after Satanic Majesty is good. They are not all excelent albums but they are all better then anything before Beggers and this is no exceptiong this is a great rock and roll album, and I am here to tell you it is one of the best Rolling Stones albums of all time as well as one of the all time greatest albums of all time period by and band of genra. So please do yourself a large favor and pick up Steel Wheels by The Tolling Stones today, you'll love it!

Steel Wheels Poster

The release of Steel Wheels in 1989 followed the group's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame and coincided with their eagerly-awaited return to the live arena. Recorded at Air Studios in Montserrat and Olympic in London, it made the Top 3 in Britain and in the States. It contains classic tracks like the US Top 5 single Mixed Emotions as well as Rock And A Hard Place, which boasts a trademark riff as infectious as any they've come up with. The incredibly atmospheric Almost Hear You Sigh also charted while Richards often reprises the ballad Slipping Away in concert.
