Free Music Notes for Other Songs

Free Music Review: Pure pop magic
Hit: 5 Stars

Ronald Eldon Sexsmiths second album is just pure pop magic. Every track is just marvelous, and Rons sad voice do the right thing for these songs. As usual Mitchell Froom and Tchad Blake know how to produce and to get the best from an artist. Ron, I'm waiting for a new one.

Free Music Review: An understated masterpiece
Hit: 5 Stars

These songs sound beautiful, sad, and lost. Sexsmith is a master of melancholy and hopeless nostagia. I don't know who she was, but she really did a number on him....

Free Music Review: just Perfect
Hit: 5 Stars

This second album is definitely perfect.I can't express what i'm feeling about it with words, because it is really intense!

Free Music Review: After 2 hearings, the songs whirl around in your head.
Hit: 5 Stars

At last -- a fresh, new singer songwriter who thinks! Thanks, Ron.

Free Music Review: Music to
Hit: 4 Stars

I avoided Ron Sexsmith for quite some time. I'd read a lot about how talented he was and what fans he had in the musical world, most notably Elvis Costello, but I just couldn't get around that name: Sexsmith. Has the name of a singer/songwriter ever conjured up the term "Adult Performer" so quickly? Okay, well perhaps Buffy St. Marie, but that aside I could never take the guy seriously. Then I heard him on Fresh Air and Terry Gross was all over him. I'm all about people who Terry Gross is all over. So I gave him a shot. Actually, I bought "Blue Boy" first. Liked it enough to get this one, considered by most his best. I think "Other Songs" does top "Blue Boy", but not by much. Has there ever been an album produced by Mitchell Froom that is less than okey-dokey? Me think not. "Other Songs" is full of great tunes, the type of when-you-get-home-you-stay-in-the-car -'til they're finished great tunes. I once circled my block for 45 minutes listening to "Thinking Out Loud" over and over again. And the most relieving part of it all is not once have I listened to Ron Sexsmith and thought about adult movies! There may be hope for me yet!
