Free Music Notes for Avalon

Free Music Review: roxy music hybrid sacd
Hit: 5 Stars

Absolutely the best sacd i've ever heard so far??????
Best than Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon SACD.

all instruments come out of the speakers as if Roxy Music were in your living room. Great surround mix, even non fans will enjoy it.

Superb?????Avalon

Free Music Review: Nice mix
Hit: 4 Stars

This recording has a variety of different music. I found it to be very enjoyable and the sound right up there.

Free Music Review: Roxy Music's Avalon On SACD
Hit: 5 Stars

Quite the accomplishment! This album certainly makes it into my Top Five with regard to the SACD soundtrack. The mixing is stellar, with just the right amount of information in each of the 5 channels to be pleasing to my ear, creating interest and sometimes pleasant surprise without being overdone. The sound is very full and "round," a term I have come to associate with analog distinguishing it from the rather harsh, tinny sound most CD's impart to the more discriminating ear. The highs sizzle without scratching, the lows find their way to a depth just not present on the CD. If you liked this album before, try the SACD....especially if you have a good 5.1 system!

Free Music Review: This was THE make-out album in the 80s
Hit: 5 Stars

It was also one of the most musical and audiophile-friendly records of the decade, so I can only imagine that this sacd version is a killer. If ever an 80s album deserved the ultimate remaster, this is it.
But honestly, I know that no digital version will ever compare to the gorgeous analog vinyl (though five channels sounds tempting). This was made just before digital recording got popular, and features the ne plus ultra of analog recording.
If you ever see a new or gently used vinyl slab of Avalon, it's a must.
So many perfect songs here, Ferry's elegant ennui never sharper; the guy was a great loungey singer who wrote A-1 pop tunes with that Roxy shimmer of other-worldliness.
The girl at the end of the title track can sing, baby!
And no joke, this is the perfect makin' out record, though I always preferred it afterwards..."Now the party's over, and I'm so tiiiired...".
If you've never heard Avalon, you are in for a serious treat. So musical and melodic that young and old alike will find much to savor.

Free Music Review: Awesome SACD
Hit: 5 Stars

Just got this one, and it is an amazing experience listening to the multi-channel SACD layer on my PS3 over my 7.1 Polk speakers. Makes a great album even better, and the mix by Bob Clearmountain is one of the best I've heard. A million times better than Police's Every Breath You Take: The Classics, which was a pretty sad SACD. It's a shame there are so few SACDs out there, but Avalon, along with Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon and Joe Satriani's Strange and Beautiful Music make a strong case for the format... that SACD is awesome! I wish there were more of these great SACDs.
