This is a marvelous recording. It is amazing to believe that this recording was made by a Cuban All-Star who is over 70 years old! In addition, he does not own his own piano! He practices on pianos wherever they are available! Valdez's recordings reveal his classical training but also he can really swing. His renditions of Cuban classics are truly innovative and the quality of the recording is excellent! A must buy for lovers of the Cuban danzon and son montuno.Free Music Review: EXCELLENT!!!!!

NO!!!! other contemporary pianist of popular music have been able to reach the level of natural talentry that Ruben Gonzalez displays. It is a shame that it took such a long time for him to be recognised as a true master - a title he rightfully earned. As someone who is from hispanic descent and who grew up listening to salsa, sons, guajiras, and jibarito music from Puerto Rico, Cuba and the rest of the Caribbean, this song and album is truly a joy. I thought the Buena Vista Social Club CD was nirvana but Ruben Gonzalez has captured all the musical history of my culture and put them on this CD.
