Free Music Review: the media fits the message
Hit: 4 Stars

Though I'm not a huge fan of Rufus Wainwright, and have trouble grasping the harmonics of the music he writes, this idea and performance is a perfect fit for him. I find I'm impressed when he is singing other people's music (Across the Universe, etc.) and here his recreation of Judy Garland's legendary musical performance really works. His voice isn't always up to the task, but he often gives a subtle reinterpretation of songs where there didn't seem a lot left to say.

Free Music Review: Only Rufus!!
Hit: 4 Stars

This CD is a riot. Only Rufus would attempt something like this. He re-creates Judy Garlands acclaimed Carnegie Hall Concert right down to the mistakes and comments she makes- accept for the story about what a hairdresser tried to do to her hair. If you are a Rufus Wainwright fan, there is a pretty good chance you like Judy Garland. This is a fun CD I reccomend it.

Free Music Review: Didn't Even Know This Existed!
Hit: 4 Stars

I had no idea that Rufus put out his own Judy Garland songs!
I bought this about a year or two ago, and still find myself pushing it into my cd player quite often. If you have read my other reviews about Rufus, than I know you know that I love Rufus. He can do no wrong in mine eyes!
"Get Happy" is a track that I will never ever get sick of.

Free Music Review: Opera-loving Canadian, 33, celebrates a true legend.
Hit: 3 Stars

A public act of worship, a fabulous stunt in which a gay singer channeled the spirit of the ultimate gay icon: Rufus Wainwright's song-by-song re-creation of Judy Garland's famous April 1961 Carnegie Hall concert was all this and more. Onstage at the June 2006 event, this gawky pop shaman was transformed by a full orchestra and clothes by schmancy Dutch designers Viktor & Rolf. On the double-CD compiled from those concerts, Wainwright's wavering, grainy, nasal-edged voice is nothing like Garland's ripe alto, though he displays a similar showbiz flair: His campy humor matches Garland's in pungency. This compendium of pop standards is as good an introduction to the great American songbook as any.

Free Music Review: DO IT AGAIN
Hit: 3 Stars

in the DVD Show he says he wishes that he had his sisters voice. He is his best in the fast songs. The droning is his own voice, and it is hard to compare to the stellar GARLAND. But I suppose this is his attempt to cross over to the Standards, and for the first time I understand his songs whilst in the rock songs it is hard to understand him. The Conductor steven A is magnificient.
