I was a teen ager when Run DMC came on the seen and introduced rap and New York City to the world. I spent my 5 years in high school listening to Run DMC, LL Cool J, UTFO, Soul Sonic Force, Grand Master Flash, and all the other legends who started this new genre of music without the money that some rap artists receive today. When I learned of the death of Jam Master Jay, I felt as though a part of my childhood had been taken from me. I listened to my collection of Run DMC music all day that day, cried one time, then relished in the fact that Jay has left us with something that can never be taken away. Listen to this CD and feel what used to be the pulse, and heart of hip hop before the term was even used.
