Free Music Notes for The Mystery Of Edwin Drood: The Solve-It-Yourself Broadway Musical (1985 Original Broadway Cast)Free Music Review: Not a great score, but excellent recording of creative show Hit: 5 Stars
This is by no means one of the greatest Broadway scores of all time. For the most part, the melodies are unoriginal, forgettable, and, as is especially the case with "Off to the Races" and "Never the Luck", completely random. However, despite the weaknesses of Rupert Holmes' score, "The Mystery of Edwin Drood" is a highly creative musical which provides for a delightful evening of exciting entertainment. This recording from 1986 does a brilliant job of capturing the magic of that evening. Don't buy this recording if you don't intend to see this musical sometime in the near future. If, however, you have seen "Drood" or plan to see it sometime soon, I would highly reccomend making this purchase. Not a great score, but a great reminder of a great musical.
Free Music Review: Fun and beyond entertaining! Hit: 5 Stars
My high school is lucky enough to be doing this show this year (production in April). This show, although most people haven't heard of it, is so much fun. I've done "Grease", "Fiddler on the Roof", "A Chorus Line", and "Footloose" at my school but this by far has been the most fun. You can't get it out of your head and it's fun to sing along with. I'm lucky enough to be playing Edwin Drood who was originally played by Betty Buckley- who does an absolutely AMAZING job! I highlyyyyy recommend this cd to everyone. My favorite songs are: Two Kinsmen, Moonfall, Perfect Strangers, No Good Can Come From Bad, The Name of Love, and the Writing on the Wall. I can't even begin to explain how much I love this show...just go buy it!
Free Music Review: If you've seen the show... Hit: 5 Stars
My experience has been that audience members either love this avant garde musical or hate it. For those who love it, the love only will increase listening to this CD, for the performances evoke the striking images and memorable characters created during the staging. I'm not certain how those who have not seen the play will react. My very strong recommendation is for those who love musical theatre to make a point of catching Drood if they have a chance. Many who see a performance will want to play the CD for years. It's a great show for many.

Hello, recently my high school preformed Drood for our fall play and as soon as i saw it (3 nights in a row, I might add!) I bought the cd. I think it's an original musical, the songs are incredibly catchy and I just love it! I would definately buy it. Oh, and my favorite songs on it are "Man Could Go Quite Mad", "There You Are", "Moonfall" and "No Good can Come from Bad."
