Free Music Notes for Exit Stage LeftFree Music Review: A Band With A Unique Sound Hit: 5 Stars
The one thing I love about Rush is that no two of their songs sound exactly the same. This is their magic. Off beats and non traditional sounds are the forefront of Rush' music. They are a band you really can't put into one definitive category. They're somewhat Heavy Metal, somewhat Head music, Somewhat Acid Rock, a little of this, a little of that. But to put it nice and simple... They ROCK!!! Of Rush' Live works, this one is the most popular. If you really want to hear some of Rush' hardest Rock sounds check out "A Passage To Bangkok", "Spirit Of Radio", Closer To The Heart, and "Tom Sawyer". One of the most beautiful songs ever composed by any artist can be found on this CD, Its name is "Red Barchetta". This CD is a mixture of all of the above mentioned styles of music and more. What can I say about it to help you decide whether or not to buy it? Well, I have an original Vinyl and Cassette and am geting the CD soon, plus, many of my friends and acquaintances have the CD and Vinyl editions. The CD is totally live, there are no studio versions on it at all. But hearing them live makes one want to see them live. Rush, unlike many bands, actually sound better live than they do in the studio.
Free Music Review: Rush 101: Intro to a GREAT Band Hit: 5 Stars
Exit Stage Left serves as the perfect introduction to Rush. It is an excellent document of the band at the apex of their career. It has a great balance of radio friendly songs(Spirit of Radio, Closer to the Heart, Tom Sawyer) and songs displaying their immense musical talents(Red Barchetta, YYZ, Xanadu, La Villa Strangiato). There are better versions of some of the songs on other Rush live albums, but as a single collection it is just about perfect. For serious fans of the band, it provides a live document of the four album run between All the World's a Stage and A Show of Hands. Any complaint of over production and over dubbing must be taken with a grain of salt. It was a very common practice among bands at the time this album was originally released. If you've seen Rush live, or heard All the World's a Stage or Rush in Rio, you'll know that, unlike many bands who need overdubs, Rush do not. This is one band that can flat out play. I highly recommend this album to anyone who enjoys great musicianship. There are few bands, and few albums with this level of quality. Rush may not revolutionize rock and roll, or bring about social change with their songs. They just play their instruments, and few play them better.
Free Music Review: Unreal! Hit: 5 Stars
Yo, let me tell you something folks. These three dudes do not mess around! This unbelievable live album of superior musicianship and high-energy emotion always makes me cry in sheer bewilderment.I enjoy listening to this album from the beginning to the end. I always get so amped when I hear that ill sixteenth-note riff on the guitar that commences "Spirit of Radio" and at the end of "La Villa Strangiato" I just want the music to keep going. I'll admit, being a musician myself, that one of my fascinations with Rush is the technical aspect of their music, which is RIDICULOUS! I mean, "Spirit of Radio" alone has sections in 4-4, 7-4, and 7-8 time. This is only one song. Throughout the album it is just- well, whatever- technique, shmechnique. Rush, unlike countless other prog rock bands (most of which I am not very fond of), has EMOTION! It's there, man. These dudes feel it. They feel the love. In Geddy's voice and bass, Alex's guitar, and Neil's drums (he is the best drummer in the world) the love is felt- the emotion is present. What more can I say? These dudes are my idols. Check it out.
Free Music Review: Rush's #1 Live album, that's saying something. Hit: 5 Stars
When I first listend to the third disc of 'Different Stages Live' it became my single favorite CD ever. I had the feeling it would never be replaced. Oh, how wrong I was.Though Exit Stage Left dosen't have A Farewell to Kings and lot of their earlie-career material,it still gets #1. The beauty of a good Live album is, it's a compilation of the bands best songs, but they sound different so it's as though you are hearing the song for the first time. Exit... Stage Left is a prime example of how spectacular Live Albums can be. If you are a new Rush fan, an old one still hasn't gotten it. If you are into Classic and/or Progressive Rock at all, get this album now! This isn't a cd that you get tired of, its value is spectacular. I can't stress enough how amazing it is. Though "Freewill" is my favorite by them, the performance of "Closer to the Heart" is most likely my favorite live version of any song, period. Stop reading, go buy it. (Sry for the spelling!)
Free Music Review: A Must For any Rock Fan!!!!! Hit: 5 Stars
Ok first of i just wanna say that Exit....Stage Left is ranked #1 on the Rush albums that i own. this was the 2nd rush cd that i bought(the 1st was Different Stages...Live) that was great, but this one is a masterpiece. a few of my favorites is Broons Bane, which is just magnifecent! My personal 2 favs are Jacobs Ladder which is one of my favorite RUSH songs period, but the song off this cd i love the most is La Villa Stragiato( now i have NEVER heard a version of this song to where alex sounds so good. But overall this is a must own cd for any fan of this power trio from Canada. i give it a 5 b/c this is one of the best soundong live albums from anyone. Im only 19 yrs old and i wasnt born when this came out but i grew up around classic rock my whole life and this band stands out the most and there only getting better.
