Free Music Review: THE BEST LIVE ALBUM IN GALAXY

I purchased EXIT STAGE LEFT in 1981, and I still listen to it after all these years. Greatest moments I had with EXIT were back in 1984. Me and friends drove back from Florida to Detroit for 24 hours continuously we were listening to EXIT. Musically, Lyrically, Performance, song selections, storically, drumming, percussion and sound was just perfect. Not to mention the concept behind those songs, CLOSER TO THE HEART I will always be unless the world can show me a better way to live this short life of ours.Free Music Review: My First Live Album

I was 12 or 13 when ESL came out, and believe it or not it was the first live album I owned(I hadn't discovered frampton or kiss yet). It is however the live album against which I judge all others, even Rush's other 3 live albums. So far only Kiss Alive & Different Stages even come close to ESL IMHO.
What's the deal witk the "extra tracks" hype. Last time I checked, that was the tracklist for the album. was it cut down at some point? Leave it to Mercury to do something like that.

I think this is the best live Rush album, besides Different Stages of course. How could it be bad? It's a collection of the best songs from Rush's peak period (with the notable exception of Limelight). A lot of people have said that the songs are to close to the studio versions. And while some of them are pretty close, none are carbon copies. After all, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Actually, they did fix it though. This album is heavily overdubbed. RUSH, EXIT STAGE LEFT is a excellent well done live album. The setlist is good but the sound of the record is excellent. My favorite tracks on the album are "THE SPIRIT OF THE RADIO", "YYZ" , "CLOSER TOT HE HEART", "FREEWILL, and "La Villa Strangiato". This album is great because of Geddy Lee's Bass and Vocals, Alex Lifeson's Guitar playing and last but not least Neil Peart's Drumming.
