Free Music Review: Rush, "Moving Pictures", 1981
Hit: 5 Stars

A classic progressive rock album. This has too be one of the greatest rock albums made of all time defenentally in the top 100 greatest albums of all time. Everything on here sounds great the drums vocals etc. Rush was becoming a big band around this time Rush was becoming a pretty big band and Moving Pictures made them huge. It has sold millions and millions of copies around the world.

Some of Rush's greatest songs are on this album, Tom Sawyer, YYZ, Limelight, and many other great songs. To date Rush still plays some of the songs on this album live. This album is just perfect in every single way. Plus the price on here is too beat only 7.97 that is a great deal. All in all if you like rock music you should buy this album of Rush and these other two albums, 2112, Farewell To Kings.

Free Music Review: another effort from Rush
Hit: 4 Stars

Not their best album, but close to it. I've never been a fan of "Red Barchetta" because the quiet vocals that build up in the beginning just pass by harmlessly, but not really excitedly. Almost like the band wanted to open the song with mellow vocals without caring a whole lot about making them interesting to the listener. I guess when the song gets going and the rocking section comes in, it improves. "Tom Sawyer" is a classic as well. What makes the other songs memorable is the fact that, this is an 80's album, and the band still had the spirit of the late 70's prog rock movement on their minds, because many of these songs could be from the 70's and I wouldn't know the difference. Great album.

Free Music Review: A Perfect Album, Start to Finish
Hit: 5 Stars

Moving Pictures comes in the middle of what I feel is Rush's most fertile period, the Hemispheres-Power Windows era. This is where it all comes together for Lee/Lifeson/Peart. Every composition on this record is a winner. I can't believe Alex Lifeson is still so underrated as a guitarist, as he really shines on this recording.
If you are just getting into Rush - forget the Greatest Hits/Compilations. Start Here, then 2112, then Counterparts, then work your way up.

Free Music Review: One of the All Time Greatest Albums!
Hit: 5 Stars

Every once in a great while, a band puts together a group of great songs: well-written rockers with exceptional production. Even more rare is to find all those songs on the same studio album. Rush's "Moving Pictures" is just one of only a few "perfect" albums out there. Every song on this album is a must-have for any serious music listener.

Every song rocks in its own distinctive way, while still retaining the complexities of the signature Rush sound. From the opening power chord of "Tom Sawyer" to the mellow fade-out of "Vital Signs", the listener is engaged in a mystical, musical world of fantasy, superstardom and social commentary.

On stage, Rush acknowledges the popularity of the entire collection of work on this album, as, except for the epic, synth-heavy "Camera Eye," they have recorded each of the songs on various live albums (I wish they had also included "Camera Eye" somewhere along the way). Few Rush fans would object to an hour long set of this entire album performed live, in living color!

If you hav never listened to this album, you are missing out--grab some headphones, sit back and get ready for one of the best musical experiences you will ever have. You must get this album!

Free Music Review: Rush - Their Commercial Peak
Hit: 4 Stars

"Moving Pictures" would prove to be the band's commercial peak. Like "Permanent Waves" before it, the album would feature shorter songs with only one clocking in at over 10 minutes. The album produced two huge hits in "Tom Sawyer" and "Limelight" both songs still staples of classic rock radio. The instrumental "YYZ" remains a fan favorite to this day as well. Most Rush fans consider this one to be the band's all time classic. I like it a lot, but there are other Rush discs that I like better. The first 6 tracks are the strong point with the hits "Red Barchetta and "The Camera Eye" all being great tunes. The last two tracks "Which Hunt" and "Vital Signs" kind of end the disc on a slightly lower note although they are both decent as well. I have never thought "Moving Pictures" was as good as a lot of Rush fans seem to rate it, but it remains a good disc and took Rush to the peak of their commercial success.
