Free Music Review: Consistently Rush, Consistently Good
Hit: 5 Stars

I was at the St. Louis show, so this cd is a nice reminder of a very nice night for me and my son. Many have complained about Rush's frequency of live releases and song list, to them I would respond, check out live King Crimson. I love that band too, but they put out a ton of live stuff, many of the same tracks repeated over and over. I don't think Rush is guilty of milking the cash cow, I think they're doing a nice service to us fans.

The live recording itself is imaculate. The sound quality is first rate. The band is performing at a very high level, and consistently well, as Rush usually does. Perhaps they could mix things up a bit, but seeing a live Rush show is seeing a band that's been together as a unit for many years, a tight band that does what it's supposed to do, put on a consistently great show.

The new album Snakes & Arrows is emphasized in the set list, as this tour was to promote that album. I for one liked that album. Beyond that there are a few old gems such as Circumstances, Entres Nous, and Witch Hunt which are very nice to hear live. Mixed amongst all this are the classic tracks, such as Tom Sawyer, Freewill, etc.

I have looked forward to this album since I first heard about it, and was not disappointed. 5 stars.

Free Music Review: Finally Rush live , warts and all
Hit: 5 Stars

I have never missed a rush concert for over 20 years , and I own alot of Bootlegs from almost every tour , and it is good to finally hear an official Rush live release that does not sound overly polished(not countins "All The world's....). This tour was fantastic and it was great to hear songs that I had never heard live (Entre Nous) as well as song brought back that haven't been played in decades (Circumstances , Digital Man). I really enjoyed this tour alot because it reminded me of The "Power Windows" tour (My first Rush concert), meaning that they played a lot of songs from Snakes and Arrows , (just like they played alot from Power Windows in 86) and we'll probably never hear some of these new songs live again. Not that I have problem with the classics, but one can only want to hear "Closer to the Heart" , and try not to get bored from it being overplayed. Like some of the other reviews I do agree that someday they will bring back some classics like "The Camera Eye", "Cinderella Man", or even "In the End". Once again every tour I see them in even if I didn't care for the album (like "Test for Echo") they will always surprise you with a long lost gem of their's which is probably one of many reasons why they still sell big venues and are not going to Indian Casinos to perform.

Free Music Review: Keep The Live Albums Coming!
Hit: 5 Stars

I could almost hear the moaning before this one was even released. "Another live CD from Rush! This is their third in five years! They are milking it!" And perhaps they are. But that still doesn't make this a bad offering. As a matter of fact this live release is quite refreshing. Sure it contains standards such as "Limelight", "Tom Sawyer", and "The Spirit of Radio". However Rush has brought back a number of songs not played for years. It is a treat to hear "Circumstances", "Entre Nous", and "Digital Man" (with a really cool jam at the end) presented live for the first time. Also, songs such as "Mission", "One Little Victory", "Secret Touch" and especially "A Passage To Bangkok" sound much better there than on previous live albums.

As for the new material, I think "Snakes & Arrows" is the best product Rush has released since switching record labels almost twenty years ago. The new songs, especially "Far Cry", "Armor and Sword", and "The Way The Wind Blows" really shine along side the older classics. As a person who has gone to see Rush on every tour for well over twenty years a live album as a souvenir sure beats a t shirt or ball cap any day. Highly recommended for fans who enjoyed the tour and for those unfortunate enough to miss it

Free Music Review: RUSH - Master's Of Their Era
Hit: 5 Stars

Last year I bought Snakes & Arrows CD; more so out of curiosity to see what on earth an aging rock band could possibly muster this late into their career, with low expectations I actually found myself enjoying the CD.

This marked the first time since Chronicles and Moving Pictures that I had bought a Rush album. And naturally since I had yet to get a sample of live Rush I jumped on the bandwagon and immediately got Snakes & Arrows Live. Disc two begins with my favorite song off the new album "Spindrift" followed two songs later by the classic "Subdivisions". I feel the newer songs carry very well with the older classics, and Rush fans should be very pleased to see how well their band has aged compared with other bands of their era the early 1970's; for example!

Queen- AC/DC- Bad Company- Emerson Lake & Palmer- Genesis- Yes- etc....How many bands of that era have stayed faithful to their fans; and intact? You never saw Geddy Lee strike off on his own to go solo.

And if you get straight to the point; Rush-heads have actually been spoiled by their Masters.

In effect be grateful that this band has been so good to its people by sharing their live music in abundance. Show some respect! This is a solid 5 Star CD.

Free Music Review: Awesome, great, and worth every penny.
Hit: 5 Stars

I have to disagree with the reviewers who feel a band can release too many live albums, especially in the case of a band like Rush. Rush puts allot off time and thought in their live production, including playing older music that has not been played for a long time. If you look at their touring history you will see that beyond four or five must have tracks, the set list for each Rush tour changes dramatically. In fact, there are very few bands out there that put forth more effort in a live show then Rush does.

I like this package, It is a great permanent representation of where Rush is at this point in their career. Just like R30 and Rush in Rio, Snakes And Arrows Live is taken from one show during that particular tour. This makes for a much nicer live album that represents the band much better then the live greatest hits packages mentioned by another reviewer.

Even if you own every Rush live recording available, this is worth having. The Snakes And Arrows material is awesome, and just like their previous two live recordings they pull out some gems from the past that are worth the price of admission alone.

Very few bands can do a Live album as well as Rush, I do not think anyone can do one better.
