Free Music Notes for Snakes & Arrows Live 2 CD SetFree Music Review: The world is still their stage! Hit: 5 Stars
As every fan knows, Rush excel at playing live. It is a distinct part of what makes them so great. And they have finally broken out of the limited pattern of 4 studio albums followed by a live recording. They have been giving fans an abundance of live works lately. And while it may appear to some as a ploy to make a few extra bucks for nothing, each and every release has been a high-quality package, offering the fans another chance at a road-trip to see the band. They always manage to throw in an old classic not previously captured to tape or played quite the same way before.
Rush have always been conscientious about giving their fans good value for the money. And the bar is always set high by them and by us. Snakes & Arrows Live is another hurdle over that bar. It's fun, it rocks, and it's a great addition to your Rush collection.
Free Music Review: BETTER MIX THAN OTHER LIVE ALBUMS Hit: 5 Stars
AS A DIE HARD RUSH FAN, THIS CD OFFERS A POWERFUL MIX UNLIKE SHOW OF HANDS WHERE THE DRUMS WERE WEAK,SO ITS A TREAT TO ME TO HAVE A KICKING MIX, I SAW THE SHOW IN DC AND WILL AGAIN IN JULY,ILL AGREE WITH GEDDY A DVD FOR EVERY TOUR WOULD BE AWESOME SUCH AS PRESTO OR COUNTERPARTS FOR MEMORIES OF THE RUSH EXPIERIENCE,ALSO REMEMBER RUSH INTRODUCED THE LASER AND EFFECTS TECHNIQUES ALONG WITH PINK FLOYD.THE ONLY THING I NOTICED WAS GEDDYS VOICE WAS SHOWING SOME AGE ,MAYBE THEY SHOULD RECORD THE TOURS MAYBE HALF WAY THROUGH WHEN THEY HAVE THE SET MASTERED,RUSH IN RIO IS GOOD TO SEE TOTAL CROWD APPRECIATION BUT WAS OVERWHELMING IN THE MIX,I GUESS EVERYONE IN THE STATES IS TO SEDATED THATS PROBABLY WHY ALL THE LIVE RECORDINGS ARE OVERSEAS,KEEP GOING RUSH CAUSE ILL KEEP BUYING THANKS FOR THE YEARS OF Music Review: Growing Older But Not Up Hit: 5 Stars
This is a great document of the Snakes and Arrows tour experience. Geddy's voice is captured accurately and shows that's he is changing in his sound and his way of dealing with that change. The band is playing quite a bit of the Snakes and Arrows album, more than many people expect and more than hardcores on the Rush Forum want them to play. But the rules of the industry have changed and this live set reflects the present.
In spite of all that, the boys have a youthful attitude towards each other and their audience and their love of the music is easy to see and hear. I'm glad to be heading back to Red Rocks to see them again in a couple of days. Long Live Rush!!!
Free Music Review: Very good show, Hit: 5 Stars
I actually had the luxery to see this show live a couple years ago in Irvine, CA and must say its the best live show ive ever heard and seen. Considering it was in a closed area the sound was full compared to Rush in Rio, which escaped away from the audience making it for poorer sound quality.
There were a few of songs i didnt grow up listening to like Entre Nous and Natual Science from Permanent Waves album and A Passage To Bangkok from 2112, but sounded really good if not better than the studio album themselves(yeah im pushing it).
I really enjoyed it, and would love to see them play again sometime.
Free Music Review: A solid live set. Hit: 5 Stars
I bought this album the day it came out. It took me a couple listens to decide how much I like it, but overall I am very satisfied. Like other reviewers have said, some of the songs are a bit more laid-back sounding than usual. But, I think that is just fine. Who wants every live album by the band to sound exactly the same anyway? The song selection is great. I'm glad they included the entire set from the tour and didn't chop any songs to save space. The live versions of Entre Nous, Digital Man, and Far Cry alone are worth the price. Still though, my favorite live album by Rush is Different Stages.
