Free Music Notes for Rushmore: Original Motion Picture SoundtrackFree Music Review: IT'S NOT A COMPLETE SOUNDTRACK! Hit: 5 Stars
Mark Mothersbaugh has shown great post-Devo compositional skill in creating the filler tunes as well as re-offering his "Snow-flake music" from another collaboration with Wes Anderson (and great movie), Bottle Rocket. What I don't get, though, is the admission in the liner notes of going for a distinctly "british invasion" soundtrack. YET, in compiling the tunes from the movie here, they neglected to include "Jennifer Juniper" by Donovan, which would have been wonderfully fitting in this collection as both a great little jingle and a tune from a notable british invasion participant!
Free Music Review: Music perfectly matched to the movie Hit: 5 Stars
I have seldom seen a movie in which soundtrack music and on-screen action were so well matched. "I Wish I Knew What I Know Now" was an especially inspired choice for the end of the movie, and "The Wind" was a wonderful match for the kite-flying society scene. I regret that I had heard only one of these songs ("Summer Song") before seeing the movie - I have alot of catching up to do. The only sour note is that the Rolling Stones song used in the movie is not included in the soundtrack. In spite of that, this is a "must have" compilation.
Free Music Review: My New Favorite CD Hit: 5 Stars
This CD is a must own. There are very few CDs I've bought where every song (give or take one or two) were in competition for my absolute favorite. Its hard to pick one, but Making Time puts me in a great mood every time. Listening to this CD on a long drive home from vacation was a lot of fun.I don't want to sound ignorant, but this kind of music isn't very familiar to me. No, I'm not a brainwashed guy who listens to KoRn or every mainstream boy band. Anyone who has seen and loved the film, Rushmore, would be crazy not to want this soundtrack.
Free Music Review: RUSHMORE Rocks Hit: 5 Stars
RUSHMORE is the best film you will see this year, and the soundtrack for the film, chosen by director Wes Anderson and musical genius Mark Mothersbaugh (who also wrote original songs for the score) is the perfect compliment to a perfect movie. If you ever were an angry young man/woman, lover, dreamer, friend, foe or otherwise ALIVE, then these songs will sing to you. Run, don't walk to the theatre to see RUSHMORE; then run, dont walk home to your computer to order the soundtrack from Amazon. Just shut up and trust me on this one, people.
Free Music Review: A Perfect Pairing... Hit: 5 Stars
I walked out of the theater bemused at the great film I happened to catch, and was thinking to myself.. heh, if there is one film that truly deserves a release on CD, it would be Rushmore. Most score/pop soudntrack pairings are willfully disjointed and show the evident tell-tale signs of over marketing the pop music in the commercial release. Here, not only does pop integrate with the score, but it ads another dimension to the film that few are to achieve, and very few can perfect... Wes.. you and your mix tapes have perfected it!
