Free Music Notes for Russell Watson · The VoiceFree Music Review: Wonderful CD Hit: 5 Stars
I agree with the reviewers who are surprised at some of the criticisms labeled at Watson as though they dislike him for reasons other than his singing. I bought the VOICE after seeing him on television and listening to some of his music tracks. I loved what I heard. If I didn't like Watson's voice, I would have just ignored it like most people would do. I would not waste my money on recordings I dislike or buy a CD just on a whim to test the waters without first listening to sample selections. Then to further make the effort to write a review about a CD I didn't like just seems absurd to me unless I'm trying to be malicious which would make me a sorry soul. The VOICE is an absolute treasure of a CD. Like many of Watson's fans, I found his opening selection of Nella fantasia, to Caruso, to Barcelona, to Nelson Dorma absolutely beautiful, powerful and versatile. Everyone should be enthralled by this wonderful and captivating singer.
Free Music Review: Watson makes my day Hit: 5 Stars
I happened to be among the many people who do not submit reviews, until now. I just rated the reviews as being helpful or not to me because I am not into writing reviews. But seeing the critical reviews drew my ire. My criticism of some of the critics are the reviews which say the same thing over and over to the point where I don't understand why there is such an effort to state how much they dislike this album. I remember I couldn't stand the Beatles, Elvis, or Michael Jackson, because I believed their voices were monotonous, bland, and boring - how wrong I was. Presently, I can't stand Sarah Brightman, but she's one of the top cross-over artists and her concert shows are impressive. Critics should put it to rest and allow Russell Watson to succeed also. I have an extensive collection of recordings but the VOICE is one that I play almost daily which I can't explain. It's just an enjoyable album that I listen to and it makes my day.
Free Music Review: Habit-forming Hit: 5 Stars
This is a wonderful album that features both pop and classical music done to perfection by a great singer, Russell Watson. Whenever I play my album in the car, at the office, or in my home (I really like this album), friends or strangers all ask who the singer is. Of course, I try to promote Watson as much as I can. Contrary to what the critics say, people do not find it boring, inept, or whatever description they give. Now, if I see a review with a story stating that a critic was playing the album that they hated so much and found that strangers or friends listened with comments of it being terrible, we'll know that these critical reviews are not a review but a vendetta against Watson.I repeat, I play this album day and night and just love it. It seems that everyone (millions of people, I might add) purchasing this album all have the same addiction of playing it over and over because you never get tired of it. It's habit forming.
Free Music Review: Definitely...THE VOICE! Hit: 5 Stars
It's incredible how many people "discovered" Russell Watson by accidentally coming across his concert on TV. Same story here! I couldn't believe that voice was coming out of that person! I just watched in disbelief as he sang opera and then switched to pop. I bought his CD "The Voice" a couple days later and WOW! No complaints here. He already has a strong and beautiful voice at such a young age, so in a few years...he'll be even better! (If that's even possible! He's so great already!) I read that his next album which opens today, "Encore", is excellent also. I'll be waiting to get my hands on that! If you listen to the sound clips and enjoy, then you'll love the album! For future TV viewers....If you happen to be flipping through the channels and come across a handsome, young, English lad singing Italian opera and then crossing over to pop...you've come across Russell Watson. And I'm really glad I did!
Free Music Review: Not a typical classical music fan ... Hit: 5 Stars
I was in the shower when he first sang on GMA. I had to stop the shower and listen to the rest of Nessun Dorma! Maybe it was the cold or his voice, but I started shivering. I never liked any classical music (although a lot of the "current" music are somehow based on them) but this guy has one of the most powerful voices that could rank with the greats. I next saw his CD at Virgin...luckily it was playing in one of the lsitening stations. Nella Fantasia was great but listening to Miserere brought out a lot of emotions. I suggest for those who are contemplating about getting this CD that they ignore those negative remarks posted somewhere else here and just give it a listen. Those are the "snobs" who prefer their classical music sung by dead, almost dead or eternally boring tenors. The music is powerful and so is this voice. I hope that he sings more accessible music like these for people like me, the mass.
