Agapesis is a group from Belgium I recently discovered through Myspace. I immediately fell in love with their music. Agapesis consists of Jean-Pierre and Melanie, your typical male/female dynamic found in a lot of modern industrial bands today. Unlike say Blutengel and Ashbury Heights, Agapesis has a sound of their own. The thick Danish accents and distinctive vocals of Jean-Pierre and Melanie sets them apart from their peers. I recently bought their album SACRILEGE. I have to admit SACRILEGE is one of those albums that needed several listens for the music to sink into my subconsciousness. Now that I have listened to SACRILEGE a few times, the music has really grown on me. The music is sung mostly in the group's native language. I don't mind that I didn't understand what Melanie and Jean-Pierre were singing but I got the gist of the mood of their songs by the tone of their vocals which was dark and sinister. All of the group's songs are driven by a pulsating rhythm that will make any listener want to get up and dance. For the most part, I love all the songs but the cd would have been fine with ten tracks. The last four tracks drags down the album a bit. Another flaw is the availability and the cost, better to buy the cd through one of the vendors at amazon's marketplace than through amazon itself. Overall I love SACRILEGE. It was definitely well worth the money.
