Free Music Review: Awesome comeback.
Hit: 5 Stars

This album is great, lots of great rock on here from the Red Rocker. Not as great as the classic Hagar but what ever is. The title track has a really good vibe to it and most of the tracks are solid rock. Great to hear Sammy Hagar plug in his amp again.

Free Music Review: Not as bad as they say...
Hit: 5 Stars

Hagar can do a lot better than this but this isn't a 1 star record like some have rated. There's a few good songs here but I could do without the cheesy nascar song.

If you like ALL Sammy, dating back to Montrose and his eclectic '70s solo catalog, CUF may appeal to you. There are songs that rock (like his '80s catalog), and some with a country-ish twang.

In the early years, Sammy had a borderline R&B influence (listen to Sam's did a cover of "Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay" or "Keep on a Rockin'"). Although it's nice to hear some variety, you've got to be in the mood to hear some of this. I think the same applies to the 'twang' or 'Buffet' influenced material he's put out lately.

Let's face it... If he doesn't try to appeal to a new audience (and it would appear that country is the path of least resistance), it's going to hurt our (Sammy fans) chances of enjoying future new albums or tours. I doubt any teens or college kids are rushing out to buy a 61 year-old rocker's album, so Sam's gotta expand the market with the 35+ crowd.

Give the album a couple listens before you ditch it. If you don't feel it, you have nearly 35 years of other Sammy material to listen to.

This is certainly not a one star album, nor is it a five star. I would give it a 3.5 if I could, but that's not an option on Amazon.

Keep On A-Rockin'!

Free Music Review: I'm digging it....I think.....
Hit: 4 Stars

First off, I've been somewhat a Sammy fan since I first saw him as the Red Rocker back in the 70's somewhere....that said, I've not followed his solo career much via vinyl and know him more by his tequila (A++) and his VH membership. I decided to pick this disc up to see where his head is, now that he's a billionaire or close to it. I have to admit to a bit of pleasant surprise in the fact that he's kind of ditched the party rock attitude and has concentrated on rocking out again. There are still the odd throwaway party songs but I guess that's his schtick so WTF.

IMHO, this disc is worth it for a few songs alone...my favorites being PEEPHOLE and PSYCHO VERTIGO. Peephole is hard rock 2008 style, no retro, no BS, no disco drumbeats, just flat out rocking and screaming...a good sound for Sammy I think. As another reviewer said, I'M ON A ROLL is a song made for TV...if Sammy don't make a bundle on NASCAR licensing with this bad boy, he never will.

I'm glad Sammy has moved a bit away from the drunken Jimmy Buffet with an electric guitar thing he's been doing the last few years...this disc seems like (for the most part) a return to the old days to me.

Free Music Review: Sam the man
Hit: 4 Stars

Sammy just flat out rocks and his infectious genuine vibe cannot help but put you in a good mood. The two songs with Neil Schon jam big time and riff master Billy Duffy (The Cult) churns out another one on Loud! Overall, the cd is very solid and Sammy's voice just gets better with age. Is this guy really in his 60's?
