This is a very good condition CD, there are some light scratches on the disc none of which affect the play. The booklet has some writing on the very back page where someone wrote phone numbers and the jewel case has a saw cut in the spine. Buy with confidence we have been in business for 30 years!!

Free Music Notes for Sarah Brightman Classics Album

Free Music Review: Classics=Angelica=fabulous!
Hit: 5 Stars

There was some initial confusion regarding this album. The original title was "Angelica" and posters were distributed with a different cover image and title. A debut concert was postponed, and the album's release date was supposedly pushed back until April 2002. But the label changed their minds apparently, and "Angelica" became "Classics" and was released on November 20. I also read that Delibes' enchanting "Flower Duet" from Lakme was to be included, but alas. Common sense tells me that if she had originally planned to release it on this album, perhaps the fact that Charlotte Church has covered some of the same songs ("Ave Maria," "Pie Jesu," "Flower Duet") proved a deterrent.

Eight of the fifteen tracks are taken from other albums (Timeless, Eden, and La Luna). Two of the songs are new recordings ("Pie Jesu," "Nessun Dorma")of material that Sarah has already released. So that means that only five of the songs are originals. "Winter Light" is a haunting cover of a Linda Ronstadt song that played during the end credits of "Secret Garden." "Dans La Nuit" is based on Chopin's E major Etude, and Sarah breathes new life into Shubert's "Ave Maria."

"Classics" is indeed a classic, an anthology of Sarah's operatic and classical oeuvres. Her soprano is clear and bell-like, occasionally dropping into a breathier chest voice. The accompanying orchestrations are supporting yet not overpowering, full of ambiance. My only wish would be to see more original material instead of repackaging over half of the tracks, but this is still a beautiful disc and a testament to Sarah's timeless talent, beauty, and popularity. Her beauty, creativity and crystalline soprano takes us into her world. And what a beautiful journey it is.
