Free Music Notes for EdenFree Music Review: Eden, the very best of Sarah Brightman Hit: 5 Stars
This album is a great one. One of the reasons it is great is that it shows Brightman's music. Eden is different from the albums that have come out in the past. In 'Fly', Brightman featured music that is somewhat closer to pop music. In 'Timeless', Brightman featured music close to classic music. But Eden is different from those two. It is something made out of both 'Timeless' and 'Fly'. Brightman has mentioned that her music style is closer to pop or classic, not musical. I think she did a very good job on putting those two things together. That's why this album has a wonderful color of crossover. The bests of this track are 'Eden', 'Anytime, Anywhere','Il Mio Cuore Va', 'Nella Fantasia', and the beatiful piece called 'Only an Ocean Away'. I personally recommend 'Only an Ocean Away' because of it's beautiful melody matching Brightman's voice. Brightman's dreamy voice makes the tracks more mystical and beautiful, and that's the purpose of Brightman's music. Some say that Brightman's voice isn't strong and her voice isn't right for classical music. But I would have to dissagree. Her voice is perfect for her music, and she isn't just an ordinary soprano. Unlike the other sopranos, Brightman prefers having her own style of music.I believe it isn't appropriate to compare other sopranos and Brightman's voice.
Free Music Review: My favorite Sarah CD Hit: 5 Stars
To me, this CD marked the beginning of the classical crossover establishment in her career. This is by far my favorite CD by her, and one I reccomend to my friends when they hear her, I personally think it's better than LaLuna-but not by a huge margin, lol. Laluna has more classical pieces, where Eden has more of a simplistic pop feel. Even Nella Fantasia, based on Gabriel's Oboe, is just simple and beautiful. There is Nessun Dorma-short and sweet. There is a delightful and sweet duet with Richard Marx, who also wrote the song. She does the Titanic song in Italian-not one of my personal fav's but whatever..then there is DUst in the Wind, Deliver Me, Eden, So Many Things, An Ocean Away-all in English and popish and gentle. The Italian pieces here aren't meant to be "classical" but more for gentle relaxation-this is a contrast from Laluna where the classical pieces are bigger. Tu, Boliero are just vocal soaring and exquisite. If you need a CD for romance, that is subtle (that's hard to find now-a-days) this is it. I've snuck it in the player when I'd have a date over, and ALL of them got hooked on her and asked about it. It has broad appeal-male and female, and unlike Celine, Whitney and others-she doesn't honk her way through track after track-this is what allows the softness to settle in.

Eden may be the perfect vehicle for Miss Brightman. She blends many styles of music and languages to create this richly textured album. She uses a little less Opera or classical than on Time To Say Goodbye, but it is effective when she goes into her lyric soprano mode. I think her version of My Heart Will Go On is much more superior than Celine Dion's, and it is a shame that Brightman was not the one that got to do it for the soundtrack as her voice is much more perfect for the ambiance of the period of the movie. Anytime,Anywhere is fantastic with the contrast of her head and chest voice. And as far as I am concerned, her soprano take on Nessun Dorma should make all tenors retire this in homage to her. Hopefully, her world tour and June PBS special will drive this album multi-platinum as it so richly deserves. She is basically the reason that Andrea Bocelli is on the map as she heard Con Te Partiro(Time to Say Goodbye) in an Italian cafe and asked the waiters who it was. When she found out it was a relatively unknown tenor from Tuscany, she asked him to rerecord the song as a duet with lusher arrangements and the texture of a soprano and a tenor. It worked! Time to Say Goodbye went on to sell millions. Buy Eden the album as she so richly deserves a listen!

As a listener unfamiliar with her previous work, I was delighted to "discover" this talented British vocalist. Since hearing Eden I have researched the bulk of her previous work. This departure from opera and musicals is an obvious attempt at tapping the adult contemporary radio market. Eden succeeds in achieving mainstream acccessibility and goes beyond, reamking a few familiar songs like Kansas' "Dust In The Wind". Sarah went on to do me a huge favor in recording "My Heart Will Go On", made famous by that annoying twig of a vocalist, Celine Dion. To outdo Celine even further, Sarah Brightman sings the song in Italian, lending a more romantic, operatic and old-world feel to a song we all heard too much of last year. Speaking of cross-Atlantic themes, the track "Only An Ocean Away" musically and lyrically will touch anyone with a soul. Vocally speaking, Sarah's got the goods. Over the course of the album and even individual songs, her voice ranges from a sweet whisper to full blown operatic explosion. Sarah Brightman's range and versatility is reflected in the choice of material as well. Mainstream music is fortunate that this diva has crossed over more than just the Atlantic.
Free Music Review: Excellent buy for all music lovers Hit: 5 Stars
I just got hooked on Sarah Brightman's great voice a little while ago when I saw her on TV. I wanted the CD "Time to Say Goodbye", but I couldn't find it, so I bought this one. I do not regret it. The music is really soothing, romantic at times, poetic. I cannot recommend this CD enough. Sarah Brightman has the most beautiful voice. All of the songs are great, something uncommon, I might add. Her interpretation of "Il mio cuore va" is, in my humble opinion, much better than Celine Dion's. I'd like to point out, though, that the song "Tu" says a bunch of nonsense. In one part it says "you hug me with your feet and I lick the arnes(?)" and "You, mounted(montadA!) on me". The song is beautiful, but it makes me wonder if the rest of the songs in Italian, etc. also say nothing but nonsense. "Tu" barely makes any sense. I wonder if Sarah has any idea of what she's singing. Anyway, you will certainly enjoy this if you're not too concerned about such trivialities. ^_^; No matter what kind of music you like, this CD will be one of your favorites. Sarah Brightman's voice is so captivating that she'll have you buying even more of her albums in no time!
