What a stunningly, beautiful voice this talented singer has! I have played this CD over and over again in the weeks since I bought it and probably will wear the CD out by Christmas - and replace immediately...Sarah switches between a wide range of singing styles and in my view does so with grace and flair. I disagree entirely with some comments I have read that refer to her 'sameness of tone' or 'small voice'. She isn't an opera singer by profession, as far as I am aware, but by goodness she can hold a tune - I know 'cos I love opera and can spot the difference. And yes, it must be said that the CD does have an opera feel about it. But don't let that put you off, because Sarah puts heart and soul into some wonderful, hauntingly beautiful songs, which you will grow to love, regardless of an opera label. You know that song from Titanic? I hated it - fed up with hearing it... but Sarah's version of this is just breathtaking in my opinion. She delivers this song with much more heart and passion, yet at the same time, purity and simplicity of voice, than I think Celine Dion did. Anyway, can't get the damn song out of my head now... but thanks Sarah - absolutely wonderful!! Buy this or you are mad!!!!
Free Music Review: BEAUTIFUL...SARAH AT HER BEST! Hit: 5 Stars
I HAVE LOVED SARAH'S VOICE SINCE I HEARD "TIME TO SAY GOODBYE" FOR THE FIRST TIME 3 YEARS AGO. AT THAT TIME, I THOUGHT SHE COULDN'T GET ANY BETTER. I WAS WRONG! I'M NOT QUITE SURE WHAT CATEGORY HER STYLE OF MUSIC FITS INTO. ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT IT IS BEAUTIFUL AND SPINE TINGLING. THOUGH ONE MAY HAVE DIFFICULTY INTERPRETING SOME OF THE LYRICS ON THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE TRACKS, THE ESSENCE OF THE MUSIC AND THE MOOD IT SETS MAKES YOU FORGET ABOUT THE QUESTION RUNNING THROUGH YOUR MIND, "NOW, WHAT DID SHE JUST SAY???" JUST ENJOY THE MUSIC AND MS. BRIGHTMAN'S HEAVEN SENT VOICE. MY FAVOURITE TRACK, HANDS DOWN, IS "IL MIO CUORE VA," THE CHILLING, TOO-BEAUTIFUL-FOR-WORDS ITALIAN VERSION OF "MY HEART WILL GO ON." IT IS ENCHANTING. EVEN IF YOU ARE LIKE ME AND DON'T SPEAK A SINGLE WORD OF ITALIAN, THIS MAGNIFICENT PIECE OF MUSIC WILL PUT A SPELL ON YOU. I ALSO LOVE TRACK NUMBER 14, "SCENE D'AMOUR." IN THIS PARTICULAR SONG, SARAH IS NOT ACTUALLY SINGING WORDS. RATHER, HER VOICE IS BEING USED AS AN INSTRUMENT. SINGING A HUGE RANGE OF HIGHS AND LOWS AND EXERCISING HER AMAZING VOCAL ACROBATIC ABILITIES. BUY THIS ALBUM. IT WILL HAVE YOU SIMPLY MESMERIZED.
Free Music Review: Stunningly beautiful as it is varied Hit: 5 Stars
I first heard this woman's ineffably wondrous and varied vocal expertise on "The Phantom of the Opera" written by ex-husband Andrew Lloyd Webber for her. As singular as that musical experience was, it is in "Eden" that I believe she attains an aesthetic zenith. Listening to this epic while at work over a period of several months, songs from the album have inflitrated my auditory spirit. The feeling is so delightfully ephemeral that one remembers almost with nostalgia past musical ecstasies encountered. And this feeling grows, for me, until certain sectional climaxes are almost unbearable, such as the orchestral crescendo of "Il Mio Cuore Va".
I concur with the reviewer below who astutely observes that "Very few albums like "Eden" are made -- it draws its listeners in through intrigue and beauty rather than any obvious ploys for attention. It's hard to imagine just how it could be better than it is -- a few tweaks here and there, but no song feels out of place or superfluous. Whether she's reworking covers or dipping into Puccini, the music sounds flawless and uniform." Sarah Brightman's melodious utterances provide holy communion with utter beauty.
Free Music Review: BRAVO! SARAH BRIGHTMAN HAS DONE IT AGAIN! Hit: 5 Stars
BRAVO! Sarah Brightman has done it again! "Eden" is a terrific CD with songs of different genres like classical, pop and so on. The first track "In Paradisum" sounds like a Gregorain Chant and with the background music (sitar and orchestra) Sarah Brightman sounds refreshing and beautiful. The song "Eden" is somehow pop-like and it has some kind of chanting in its background... This clearly shows Sarah's ability to sing pop music. Beside singing original songs written for her, she also sing cover version of "Dust In The Wind" (Kansas) and "My Heart Will Go On" (Celine Dion). Another of my favourite is Track 15. And that's "Nessun Dorma" by famous italian composer Puccini. "The Last Word You Said" is also another wonderful song. It starts off with the beautiful sound of an oboe and it continues with the clear and touching voice of Sarah Brightman and I suppose this song is the most romantic song of all the songs in this CD. All in all this is a great CD and it will be a great loss if you don't buy it. To end my review I would like to say SARAH IS THE BEST! :-)
Free Music Review: The most romantic disc !!! Hit: 5 Stars
Are you and your special person looking to get in the mood for romance? PUT THIS ON!!!!My girlfriend turned me on to EDEN and to Sara Brightman. I was skeptical at first thinking it was fluffy new age music. Boy I was mistaken! This is the sound of angels! It will take your breath away. If you only know Sara from her Broadway work then you only know half the story. EDEN is a mixture of many styles - classical, opera, new age, rock. Many of the songs are in Italian or Latin and I have no idea what she is saying!!! But it doesn't matter, it is beautiful. I really can't think of the proper words to do this wondeful body of music it's proper justice. You'd think a ballad with Richard Marx would be the cheeziest. Wrong again. Quite a moving experience! You'd think a cover of Kansas's DUST IN THE WIND wouldn't meet the greatness of the orignal track. Well it surpasses it! And thank god for a decent version of the THEME FROM THE TITANIC. I can't stand hearing that wench Celeine Dion. Sara KNOWS how to sing the song and does it with class and elegance. Try this CD. If you like it I definately suggest you also purchase LA LUNA. Enjoy!
