Free Music Notes for SymphonyFree Music Review: The voice as instrument Hit: 5 Stars
Be prepared to take flight when listening to this CD. Many consider Sarah Brightman to have one of the best voices, and this CD proves that statement. If one has never thought of the voice as an instrument, listen to Senvean. You cannot help but be carried into the angelic realm. Then, she sings a duet with Paul Stanley of Kiss - wow - did I mention rock opera. Sarah sang in the Phantom and here she proves that she is the master for rock opera, if there is such a thing. Flours Du Mal will make that statement true! Canto Della Terra is the crowning achievement of the CD, very powerful and full of emotion. The title track Symphony is probably the weakest song due to the lyrics, but my gosh, that wonderful voice. Want to be lifted for a moment from this world - listen to Senvean and there you go. If you are not moved by this song and Canto Della Terra then something is wrong with you. Apologize for the strong statement, but this rocker says, opera can not only be good, but it can be great. Your ear drums will thank you for the pure delight of this masterpiece. MAD
Free Music Review: Welcome Americans to Sarah Brightman..... Hit: 5 Stars
This CD is Sarah Brightman's best effort to date. The writing and production by Frank Peterson is incredible. The song "Fleurs Du Mal" is alone worth the price of the CD. When the chorus comes in on this song is not to be matched with any kind of music. The two duets with Andrea Bocelli and Alessandro Safina raise the hairs on the back of my neck. Sarah Brightman is in her prime here, and I will be getting tickets for her event(Sarah's concerts are not concerts, they are events). Hopefully with this CD Sarah will become the superstar in the US that she enjoys in Europe. I enjoyed the last event in the Quad cities and the stadium was only half full. If you have not caught the PBS Special with Sarah in Vienna with Alessandro Safina and Paul Stanley, you need to, and again after viewing this special you will buy this CD. I do not care if you are into rock, country, r&b, or whatever....if you are into excellence in music, you can not but hear the excellence in this CD. Hey baby, "let it rain, let it rain, why can't we fall in love again?"
Free Music Review: Best Sarah Brightman CD since Time To Say Goodbye Hit: 5 Stars
Symphony is Sarah Brightman's best release since Time To Say Goodbye.
Sarah has always had one of the best voices in classical crossover and this CD does a wonderful job of mixing rock, pop, and classical together in way that still makes a unified artistic statement.
Some of my favorite songs are:
Gothica/Fleurs Du Mal - a great blend of atmospheric metal with operatic vocals.
I Will Be With You - a sweeping pop epic with none other than Paul Stanley (KISS). Paul's vocal tonality dosn't seem to blend that well with Sarah's crystalline soprano but it's still a great song. Sissel has also done a wonderful version of this song.
Let It Rain - beautiful ballad with excellent production values.
Running - this song almost has an ABBAesque feel to it with great harmonies.
If you liked Time To Say Goodbye you will love this CD. Highly recommended.
Free Music Review: A wonderful album by Sarah. Hit: 5 Stars
I bought this album on October 19th, and I have not been disappointed. Actually, the album was my alarm clock this morning. Sarah Brightman's Symphony is a great album on its own. A feed for Sarah's older fans and a hook, line, and sinker for new fans. Through it's first listen through, you ask yourself if one woman and a few guest performers can do this and create such a beautiful piece of art. The sound is loud, quiet, lovingly, and sweet. Sarah will be around for quite a while. The sound is not forgettable and it is truly addictive. You will hear it and want it again with every song. Don't be surprised when listening to the song Running, and a hidden track starts. Symphony has one hidden track at the end of Running, called Fleurs de Mal (Reprise). Running itself feels like three or four different songs. A great buy for a low amount of cash.
Free Music Review: Beautiful Brightman ! Hit: 5 Stars
A stunning release by a superb artist ! This is Sarah's fullest sounding cd release yet. There is ALOT going on in just about every track on the disc , yet it never overpowers the vocal talent that Sarah prominently displays. Each song is a gem ! The first 3 alone are worth the price of the disc. The title track is a breathtaking melody that upon after just a couple listens--you will be whistling or humming. The duet with Andrea Bocelli rivals "Time To Say Goodbye" in both beauty and performance. (And I'm sure MANY people will wonder , as I did , why a duet with Paul Stanley from KISS......but rest assured , it works wonderfully as well !) Buy this now..And oh , by the way , don't be too quick to take the cd out of the player , as an uncredited instrumental track follows minutes after the "last track" ends.......could it be a "symphony" ?
