Free Music Notes for SymphonyFree Music Review: Buy It Used Hit: 3 StarsThough I am a Sarah Brightman fan, I have to agree with other reviewers who found this album to be a disappointment.
As others have said, this album gave me a sense that it was put together in a hurry. Usually, Sarah Brightman albums have a theme that connects the songs together. Her moon-themed CD, for example, would have songs like "Hijo de la Luna" and "La Luna." Unless I had missed that an orchestral background was the theme of the album, "Symphony" is more like a mishmash of different songs.
In "Symphony", the quality of Sarah's voice is not as good as it is in her other albums. When she sings, it seems strained and brittle. I remember Sarah saying that she had been seriously ill some time before the release of the CD. I'm not sure if sickness had any effect on her vocals, but I know that Sarah has a great voice and this album really does it no justice. Sarah's rendition of "Sanvean" is, unfortunately, pretty bad. Her voice sounded weak and emotionless, which is very unlike Sarah. The "Schwere Träume" track was very bland. The song is nice, but I know Sarah could have made it one of the songs that brings me to happy tears (as she often does).
On the bright side, there are two things from the album I'd like to highlight. The song "Canto Della Terra" is a very lovely piece, and, in my opinion, should have been the title track to the CD. Sarah's duet with Alessandro is pretty good. I think Sarah's voice is more compatible with Safina's than Bocelli's, and I hope she sings more duets with Safina in the future.
I'll just put this album away in the drawer and snap up her next record. Hopefully it'll be a lot better.
Free Music Review: Not-so-Great.... Hit: 1 StarsI love Sarah Brightman from the top of my head to the tips of my toes, but I was sadly disappointed with this album. Too much pop and not enough of the classical style we love her for. I hope Sarah stops trying to be a pop sensation and returns to opera diva world. I miss Nessun Dorma...
Free Music Review: Voice of an angel? Maybe. Hit: 4 StarsShe has the voice at times like that of a child .It is great for the vocal music lover ,but the hardcore opera fan may want to pass on this one when they need that kind of fix.She is very pleasing to listen to and sometimes her music has a dark air to it, but not often are you bombarded with the vocal power that although she posesses she does not make frequent use of.When it all comes down to it she is perfect for the one who comes home stressed and just wants to kick off their shoes and relax.
Free Music Review: Um! Hit: 1 StarsAfter all these years, we finally have Sarah Brightman's brand new album 'Symphony.' Geez, I'm glad I got it as a gift. It's dull, lifeless, and basically an extended vocalise. If listening to a soprano coo is your cup of tea, well...you've got something to enjoy. Hopefully, with her next album, she'll get back to singing songs again. I've enjoyed several of her previous releases. The music and voice were beautiful and sometimes even mesmerizing. I've always been disappointed that many of her best songs are hampered by such inane and insipid lyrics. However, that probably won't ever change. I'm still a fan, but I'll go back to her past albums now, and hope for something much better next time around.
Free Music Review: Symphony Hit: 2 StarsI have some of her albums but must admit I was disappointed with this one because it didn't stand out so much from the rest. Her version of Sanvean by Dead Can Dance was atrocious and can't believe she tried to cover it.
All in all the cd is nice to listen to but nothing special.
