Free Music Review: Simply Sarah
Hit: 4 Stars

There have been so many artists during the 90's that came and went, that it is so easy to forget the beauty and dominance of their songs. That has shown widely with Sarah McLachlan. It has been 20 years since she came out in the late 80's, and dominated with her striking lyrics and her simple songs. While she hasn't released a full-length record since 2003's Afterglow, she has made a dominance with her music still striking chords top to bottom. Now that the former Lillith Fair founder has celebrated her anniversary, she also has made a first ever best-of collection that shows well into her voice, and delicately that she is more than just a pretty face.

Closer: The Best Of Sarah McLachlan works well, as a single disc collection that features Sarah's best songs from her 3 decades career. The collection doesn't fell like it has anything missing, which is very strong considering there have been a lot of albums that came out that've felt like they've been more lemons than diamonds in the rough this past year. Anyway, Closer includes a lot of great songs that feel like a walk gently down Memory Lane and feature great songs including her hits Building A Mystery, her live recording of I Will Remember You, the somber Fallen, Aida, and he big hit from the movie City Of Angels, Angel. The album also includes 2 new tracks from Sarah which blend in pretty nicely into Sarah's catalog of great songs, including U Want Me 2, and Don't Give Up On Us.

All in all, I really hope Sarah McLachlan can really come back and relase a brand new album soon. But, all in all, Closer: The Best Of Sarah McLachlan works just fine in the meantime for anyone who hasn't yet heard of Sarah big classics, and fine for die hard fans alike. I really think this is a great buy all the way around, and that is proof that when Sarah recorded Building A Mystery, that this mystery was solved with open arms.

Free Music Review: 2 new songs!!!!
Hit: 4 Stars

Ever since the release of "Afterglow" Sarah have managed in the recent years to offer a new dvd or cd every year doing the minimum effort or simply not doing anything new at all (Afterglow live, Mirrorball special edition, the Xmas album, Rarities and Bsides part 2) and I was more than anxious this year for a new album, I was sure her ideas to make a new product using old material were run out ! Big Mistake !!! I wasnt counting on a "Best Of" release, after all she didnt did that before!! , well I was of course a little angry and reluctant to get this one even if it had a couple of new songs, but you all know, Sarah is Sarah and theres no way she can do wrong when she creates something new, even if she doesnt create very often, I saw on you tube the video for "U Want me 2" and I fell again for her, I cant be mad at her after all I have to admit it , I love her and theres no way she can dissapoint me, so yeah! yesterday I get the cd at the record store, I played it on my car, of course I listened first "U want me 2" like.....mmmhhh!!!, fifthteen times? and then I listened the other songs, yeah! great song but same all by now, all of them have been a part of my life and I see it this way , this compilation is great to have it in my car stereo and keep my Sarah collection in my house.

So! 2009 HAVE to be the year Sarah releases a new album, with NEW MATERIAL please !!!!! I love her but I hope she doesnt abuse of my love (but I know cant never be mad at her)

Free Music Review: Patience is running thin
Hit: 4 Stars

Yes, this collection shows that Sarah is an extraordinarily talented musician. This set shows it, the B-Sides set that came out earlier this year showed it, the live set a few years ago showed it, the collection of Christmas covers showed it... um...

Hey, how much actual new music has she really brought to the table the last five years? The last ten years, even? Is this greatest hits coming out because she really had that many hits? Or is it coming out because people need another reminder that she's still around?

Enough with the re-hash... she needs to get back to the drawing board and bring us some new stuff, or she needs to leave us alone.

Still, a great review of great music from a (once-)great artist.

Free Music Review: Great music
Hit: 4 Stars

I love Sarah Mclaclan. I have enjoyed her music for years. However, with the last all new music released in 2003, I want to hear more of her music. I love her music so much there was no question I would buy this album, but make some new music already! Two songs and a rehash of the songs popular in the 1990s is not enough! However, this is a great collection of her greatest hits if you do not own all of her CDs already.

Free Music Review: Closer to my heart
Hit: 4 Stars

Sarah has a unique voice and I was really looking forward to a compilation of her work. Listening to "U Want Me 2" ~ This song is especially close to my heart for it speaks the words I cannot express in my own personal sorrow and loss. It is as though she channels on a spiritual wave of human emotions. Thank you Sarah!
