Sarah should not do studio albums. The live versions of her songs have so much more energy than anything she has done in a studio. It's amazing to me that her studio recorded songs that sound so dull and lifeless come alive in front of an audience. Although initially I didn't like this record as much as I liked Mirror Ball, the more I listen to it, the more I like it. Musically, her band is as good as it gets. The intricate arrangements and Sarah's soothing and melodic voice will keep your ears entertained for hours. All this and you get a DVD in which Sarah straps on a Fender Telecaster. I ask you, how cool is that? If you are a Sarah fan, you will not be dissapointed. In fact, you may become a bigger fan.Free Music Review: How Can I Not...

How can I not mourn all of my lifes problems to this sweet and original vibe of an album, wonderful..Dark and light collides in this, the Goddesses album. The best songs, "Posse (-I am! -)-ssion","Hold On"(..original..) and "Perfect Girl.." among others..You really must see and hear the (buy her cookbook..) eloquent and gallant Sarah sing and play and speak, this is the best (also buy "Living In Clip" by Ani DiFranco..And Sarah's "Possession" on "Fumbling Towards Ecstacy.." And the Indigo Girls first, third,.. and second cd's..And Sarolta G. I was extreemtly hesitant to get this DVD since the "Mirrorball" DVD was so awful. I bought the "Afterglow Live" DVD only to get the CD that came with it. When I actually popped the DVD into the player, I was plesantly surprised. The concert is beautifly filmed with a wonderful mix of songs, spanning old and new alike.
While it is a bummer that only half of the songs made it to the CD (due to length), the entire concert audio is available only on Sarah's website (sarahmclachlan.com) and is worth the download.
This is awesome. "Afterglow" is already my favorite Sarah CD and the DVD just topped it. BUY THIS RELEASE!!!!!!
Free Music Review: I like it better than Mirrorball DVD

As said before me, this concert's editing is sometimes boring, but I like it better than the Mirrorball DVD.
Why...?
1. A better performance overall. Sarah's attire, the lights, the scenery... Mirrorball is rather monotone.
2. The sound recording. I almost feel there (home theater, DTS capable). No matter what I do, I cant get the same sound from Mirrorball.
3. The songs from her latest album are here also (Mirrorball concert is previous to Afterglow).
And yes, the album is copy-protected; I can't hear it in my iPod. Only drawback.

Free Music Review: Really wish you could listen to the DVD in your car?

While the CD is a bit lacking, the lineup from the DVD is terrific! Many reviews state that people wish they could listen to the DVD on a CD and I have found a solution! If you go to the sarah mclachlan website (www.sarahmclachlan.com) and select downloads, you can download all the songs from the DVD as a CD to listen to (I think its 23 songs total). You can select whether you want it in mp3 format ($14.99) or FLAC ($15.99 but this allows you to put it on iPods and to burn the songs to a CD). It does take awhile to download but is well worth it for those out there that are true fans and want all the songs from the DVD!
