Free Music Review: Saxon Continues on!
Hit: 4 Stars

Being that I have come back to this band after about a 10 year or more absence, I was hopeful this release would be as amazing as Killing Ground was. Well in some ways, it's just as good and in others, not so much. The sound is again pure classic metal, Saxon style, but the catchy riffs found on Killing Ground are not as prevalent here. It does have some really good tunes, but it's not as good a listen as Killing Ground was which is a little disappointing. It's still a fine listen, I just wish it was as more catchy overall as Killing Ground was.

The DVD has some cool live footage of Saxon doing their thing live and gives you another perspective of what these guys are about.

Overall it's a good cd, but nothing outstanding. I still they can do better, but am still happy they are indeed still around!

Free Music Review: Lemmyrules1
Hit: 4 Stars

Good effort by one of the most enduring bands.

Wish the Song I got to Rock was the Lemmy and Angry version.

That is the only thing keeping it from 5 Stars

Free Music Review: Saxon's Sanctum Rocks!
Hit: 3 Stars

Saxon's new disc is brilliant. Saxon is one of the
original 80's metal bands like Priest, Maiden etc.
that ruled until MTV killed metal! They have changed
with different sounds but this time they have combined
all the past and present into one classic metal album.
While I loved Dogs of War from 95 it was hit and miss
but still has some classic Saxon moments. The Chronicles
DVD is also brilliant. Biff and the boys will satisfy any
fan past present and hopefully more in the future! Also if
you can find the 2 disc set with DVD it's awesome!

Free Music Review: Nowhere else to go..
Hit: 2 Stars

To my utter disappointment, Saxon worked again with producer Charlie Bauerfeind, a producer specialized in European power metal bands, the ones that use double-kick drums all the time, sing only about the Templars, dragons, magicians, whatever. The result was tragic in LIONHEART, the previous Saxon album, because basically there was no Saxon in it anymore: just pedestrian and generic European power metal.

The formula repeated itself in this album. There is no spark, nothiong brilliant, not one song even close to become a classic.

Anyway, any band that lasts for so long in the very difficult music business has incredible merit and should be praised, not criticized.

Buy this album if you're a Saxon completist or if you're into generic European metal.
