In my opinion : Having owned the great School House Rock original videos and soundrtrack, this was a disappointment! The song lyrics are barely audible (isn't learning the point here?)even if you already know the words to the songs due to the high school talent level attempts at rock music. Buy the first one and learn. By the second one to have your ears blasted! If you want rock and roll, try Springsteen or Aerosmith!!Free Music Review: Great music takes me both back to the 70s and into the 90s!

I was a HUGE SHR fan growing up and still love watching some of the old clips on my SHR America Rock VHS tape. But while I feel a little silly and juvenille watching the original shows, I feel cool and hip when I listen to my SHR Rocks! album! This CD takes some of the best SHR songs from the 70s and puts them in the hands of trendy 90s rock bands; the resulting songs are frequently very different from the originals yet still a lot of fun. I especially like "Mr. Morton," a song that I only vaguely recollect from my younger years that's turned into a cool, sort of rap-style melody here. Overall, this is a great modern compilation that's likely to be enjoyed by both those who grew up with SHR and those who like the bands featured.Free Music Review: good but inappropriate

All i'm going to say about this disc is that its really cool music, and its a fun homage for someone who specifically grew up with SHR and who is into indie music in their "adulthood", but this CD doesnt work for kids today. I would feel really awkward and uncomfortable playing Chavez's version of "Little 12-toes" to my neice, yet i wouldnt mind rocking out to it in my car. So in a nutshell, this disc is not really for kids, its for the kids who have already grown up.Free Music Review: What a disappointment

I had purchased this CD for my students so that I might share with them some of the songs from my past that helped me to learn. It wasn't even close to what I remembered. But the truly disappointing part was that the words in the booklet didn't match the songs on the disc and it is difficult to sing along with these versions. If you are hoping to reminisce with your students or children of your own, don't buy this disc.Free Music Review: Best Educational Show Ever!!

I remember watching School House Rock when i was younger. I wouldnt have remembered the Preamble if it werent for the song.. I sang it in class and passed!! =) These skits should be put back on the air for the kids today , they have nothing like these for their entertainment nowadays.. I think they were the best learning tool ever. Lisa
