Free Music Notes for Scissor SistersFree Music Review: The saviors of queer music? Hit: 5 Stars
Uh ... yeah. So amazon wouldn't publish the review I previously wrote for this album. I'm guessing it was because I criticized other artists who I feel have lost their touch.
Queer music is a genre all its own. The artist making the music doesn't even have to be gay (even though it helps). It's about creating music with a certain celebratory, joyful, tongue-in-cheek, dramatic, and, for lack of a better word, fabulous feel to it. This album qualifies on all counts. And the icing on the cake is that, musically, it's really very good. Good vocals, good lyrics, good songs, good production. It's just really fun.
Plus they actually mention "skeksis" in the song "Return to Oz." How cool is that?
Free Music Review: The album and group I've been waiting for.... Hit: 5 Stars
In the office where I work, there is DMX music piped in and I kept hearing the song "Take Your Mama" and almost thought I was hearing a song from the new Elton John album, except I could tell it wasn't him, the voice was too young. Went home and googled one of the lyrics and discovered Scissor Sisters. Checked out the reviews here on Amazon and then put my shoes back on to go out and buy the album. I had been pining for some great pop/rock (I never know what to buy anymore), and THIS IS THE ALBUM/GROUP I have been waiting for! Fun, exciting, lovely and innovative...this is such a find for a 41 year old child of the 70's and 80's. I love this, it's great and the reviews are true...this album is amazing!
Free Music Review: Scissor Sisters Now Same Rating As J-Lo's 'Rebirth' Hit: 5 Stars
** I have an account now! Yippee! **
When I logged on and discovered that the Scissor Sister's GREAT album had become a 3 1/2 star rated album, I was pretty annoyed.
Why? Because half of the reviews are just some kid who changed the wording a little bit, but just saying that he/she hated this album.
Once is enough. Don't alter the rating from 'the general rating' to 'the kid's rating', there are websites where you can do that. Very mature. Goodness. You don't own this website.
Also, I see this petty squabble continuing in Pink Floyd's 'Dark Side Of The Moon' Reviews. Let's be a bit more mature when posting reviews, please.
Free Music Review: One of the Best of the Year Hit: 5 Stars
This is an incredible debut. A true return to the album as a whole, rather than a bunch of tracks slapped together around two singles. It's no fluke that this album has sold over one and a half million records in the UK alone, not to mention that the Comfortably Numb cover has been nominated for a Grammy. To Floyd purists: the magic of covering a song is taking it and doing something different and unexpected to it. Think back to the Wallflowers doing Bowie's Heros. What's the point of covering the song if your not going to turn it on its head? The album is full of diverse, incredibly strong songs, and rides an kind of arc that hasn't been seen in music in twenty years.
Free Music Review: I LOVE THIS ALBUM!!!!!!!! Hit: 5 Stars
I saw this CD in iTunes and then heard "Take Your Mama" on MTV. I immediatly loved the CD. So, I bought it and that was the best thing i have ever done in my life!!!!! This album mixes techno with acoustic guitars and amzing lyrics, along melodic piano tunes. The best song on the CD, in my opinion, is "T*ts On The Radio" followed by "Music Is The Victim" and then "Filthy/Gorgeous". I also love "Return To Oz" because it is so different from the other songs on the CD. "Comfortably Numb" is a remake of a song by some old rock band...maybe Pink Floyd or The Who. Its one of the two.
THIS ALBUM IS AMAZING!!!!!!
