Free Music Review: 5 Stars Well Deserved
Hit: 5 Stars

This is not any one type of music. It is so multifacited that it just shines with a glow of uniqueness.

Songs taht very from Pop/Rock to Dance to anything-from-the-seventies-is-fair-game, Scissor Sisters' debut is rockin, powerful, entertaining and just good fun. Very radio friendly and enjoyable, I'm still surprised by their lack of success in the United States. Maybe this country isn't ready for a group fronted by a young flamboyantly gay lead singer that has so much talent and potential it should be illegal. Who knows?

All anyone really needs to know is that Scissor Sister's debut is enjoyable on every level, and it's hard to think of many other bands with this versitility and ability to pump out very throwback yet fresh style. In my mind, there isn't a whole lot not to like about it.

From Jake Shears sometimes Elton John sometimes Beegees all the time great voice to the powerful hook driven lyrics and great little guitar riffs, Scissor Sister's Debut is one of the strongest debuts of all time.

Free Music Review: GREAT from start to finish
Hit: 5 Stars

This is the second album for the Scissor Sisters and it's leaps and bounds above the first one (of course that can be said for most artist). I bought the CD on a whim after hearing "Land of a Thousand Words" online and have enjoyed every second of the CD. I listen to it at home, in my car, and at work. It helps keep me both calm and sane at work. From the first song "I don't feel like dancing," which oddly enough sometimes does make me want to dance, to the last song, "Everybody wants the same thing" I am transported to another place. I have rarely bought cds where every song is worth it. Usually I jump around on a CD and listen to 4 or 5 tracks on a 12 track cd, this is not the case with Ta-Dah! If you like them, get it; if you have never heard them, get it and you will. I swear that you will NOT be disappointed.

I bought this CD before I bought the debut self titled CD, and I have to say that while the first one is good, the second one was great. However they are both worth a turn in the CD player or MP3 player.

Free Music Review: Had to get this CD after seeing Jake on SNL!
Hit: 5 Stars

This CD rocks! I did hear "take you momma out" on the radio), but did'nt know it was them. All I have to say is, after seeing them perform on SNL, that lead singer in those sexy outfits shaking his ass all over the stage, I was hooked. Mick Jagger ain't got nothin on him..lean, trim, slim, 0% body fat,(and that means NO LOVE HANDLES(don't u just hate that on a guy?), and a cute little butt that gives me the shakes every time he moves! He is one sexy mutha...!(shut yo' mouth.. I'm talkin bout' JAKE!)
From the moment he came onstage in that shiny pink skintight pants outfit..damn! I was riveted. This guy is just a bundle of energy when unleashed on a stage. And then for his 2nd number, he came out in a cobalt blue halter top and pants! I ain't never seen a man look so sexy in a haltertop! I'm not into men, but with a few beers I'd do him in a heartbeat!
I will NEVER erase that SNL show on my VHS tape.
Jake, u are the epitome of androgeny-the hottest, the sexiest, downright gorgeous dude on the planet!!

Free Music Review: Little bit of funk, a little disco, a little pop - AWESOME!
Hit: 5 Stars

Scissor Sisters is NOT a Bee Gees cover band! Let's get that straight right away. What they are is an awesome and creative New York band harkening back to the late 1970s style of pop music. Their sound is a mixture of pop, funk, and disco all mixed up together.

Lead singer Jake Shears sometimes sounds like Elton John and sometimes (more often than not) sounds like Sylvester (no, not the cat).

"Take your Mama" is truly danceable and hummable. Their cover of Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb" is inspired. "T*ts on the Radio" is funkily wonderful. "Filthy Gorgeous" is a true walk through nostalgic 1980's pop. "Music is the Victim" and "Better Luck" will have you singing along and tapping your toes.

I haven't heard such a great debut album in over a decade! This group not only writes their own music, but they play their own instruments and sing their own songs. This IS a real band. Make no mistake.

Sign me up for tickets when they come to my town!!!!

Free Music Review: Loved it the first time I heard it
Hit: 5 Stars

Read the review in Time, heard "Take Your Mama Out" once, and decided to give it a try. There aren't too many cd's that I like this much on the first go round. 'Fun' seems to be the operative word in the reviews and I can't agree more. I was dancing before the first chorus of "Laura" was over. I was holding the cat at the time, who didn't like it at all, but that's another story...
I agree with all the comparisons, but that said, although I'm a big fan of Elton John (especially the early stuff), I could take or leave the Bee Gee's and never really cared for the B-52's. (Does anyone remember Icehouse? That's who they remind me of.) So don't let the comparisons sway your decision. Certainly, Scissor Sisters references all the groups and artists mentioned, but ultimately, their sound is all their own.
I would like to see them break through the US market. I think they deserve it as much and more than some of the other successful 'artists' out there. I hope this review helps.
