Free Music Notes for Scissor Sisters

Free Music Review: An Adult's Review
Hit: 5 Stars

John Cameron Mitchell (do some research) heard Jake Shears singing 'Laura' years ago and knew the guy was gonna be big. Why? Talent. And yes, UFO's Strangers In The Night IS a great guitar album, but it ain't the Scissor Sisters. (Although, Schenker would look great in drag!) I've heard all the complaints, but the bottom line is they write great songs and there are some very fun riffs at work here. And if you know all their influences, why haven't you even mentioned Roxy Music, the most obvious one? Hmmmmm? (gee...who are they?)

Rock On, Babydaddy!

Give it a rest. Comfortably Numb isn't going anywhere soon. And are you bright enough to understand Waters had to give them the legal right to 'cover' it, anyway! But to compare Scissor Sisters to most of the crap being produced today is unfair, BECAUSE THEY CAN PLAY THEIR INSTRUMENTS. This cd has some great songs. Memorable. Catchy. Too bad Floyd can't write great songs anymore. Quit worshipping an album that isn't even really Pink Floyd, more like the 'Waters Ego Project' instead. You fell for it people, you're giving this more notoriety than the Sisters ever imagined!

Free Music Review: Humor, tributes and talent
Hit: 5 Stars

This cd is like a new kind of tribute album. It's a hats off to all their favorites, all jumbled up, and then spit out into a really great songs that are all their own. Their influences are very very obvious, and seems as though they are meant to be. You hear amped up versions of Elton, George Michael, David Bowie, BeeGees and Pink Floyd all mixed together in their own songs. This album is about fun, and yes, about shamelessly being in love with other people's music. If you don't have a sense of humor, Scissor Sisters is going to be completely lost on you.

Free Music Review: Awesome CD!
Hit: 5 Stars

I recommend this CD to anyone who like eclectic types of music. I love the song 'Filthy Georgeous', pretty funny if you listen to the words. GLAD I MADE THE PURCHASE! Whole CD is put together well. I listen to it from beginning to end and enjoy every minute of it.

Free Music Review: Embarassing for gays, but campy entertainment for straights
Hit: 1 Stars

I didn't know Elton released a dance-inspired bullsh*t album under the name of Scissor Sisters and let some 20-something wierdo lip synch his voice over the music videos.

Scissor Sisters aren't heavily influenced by Elton John; they stole his voice. It's mind boggling that the 20-something lead singer freak (just look him in the music videos) manages to sound identical to Elton. There had to be some studio manipulation of that kid's voice. The tune to the songs also sounds like something from Elton as well (especially "Knock Yo' Mama Out"). The band also up the flamboyance level to a new extreme, which is unbelievably annoying and stupid. Elton is flamboyant in a classy diva kind of way, and it was/is great (and amusing) to see and hear about. But it's all a joke to The Scissor Sisters. What I want to know is how The Scissor Sisters expect everyone to take seriously the call to equality the gay community so sorely needs when their band just serves to perpetuate the gay stereotypes they say they want destroyed. Simply put, this band is very off-putting, even for gay listeners. Get a classic Elton John record instead.

Straights must think they're doing something to help the cause in the gay community by listening to the sh*t put out by The Scissor Sisters, but it's really setting us back even more.
