Free Music Notes for UnbreakableFree Music Review: Unbreakable music....... Hit: 4 Stars
This CD is a very good one, and I must admit they are older than before, but they are still the rockers they have always been. It is proven in their songs, for example: 'New Generation', beautiful heavy opening song, perfectly done. I just love the rhythm, and the next song: 'Love 'Em Or Leave 'Em', is very good as well, and this one contains some magic. 'Deep And Dark', this one is nice to hear and I hear some modern influences in this song. 'Borderline' is average, not ugly, but nice to hear for once or twice. 'Blood Too Hot' follows, and this one really gets you rockin'. It's fast, melodic, and superb. 'Maybe I, Maybe You' is a ballad, very beautiful, and nice to hear. If they wanted it, I'm sure it could be a hit. 'Someday Is Now' is a very good song, written by James Kottak, and I'm sad everytime the next song begins. 'My City, My Town' is also good, and it's funny too, if you think that Klaus Meine is almost 60 years old. He sings lyrics like he is 20 or 30. 'Through My Eyes' is a ballad, and this one reminds me to the earlier 80's Scorpions. 'Can You Feel It' is very good to, and 'This Time' is a song, written by Matthias Jabs, and I would expect a little more of it, because Matthias written it. 'She Said' is another ballad, it could be done better. And last, but not least: 'Remember The Good Times' the bonustrack. Very good song, perfect for the end of the CD. This album is highly recommended for any Scorpions-fan, or Rock-fan.
Keep On Rocking.
Free Music Review: What? Hit: 4 Stars
I don't usually review anything at all on Amazon, but the other guy's ill-founded commentary on this album has sparked me into it. It sounds as if 'a music fan from NH' wasn't looking for a Scorpions album at all. With 'Unbreakable,' you've got a good amount of straight-ahead rockers with catchy riffs (and in some cases, lyrics), and a handful of ballads that honestly aren't bad. I've heard far worse, and not many better. The guitars are just about as powerful as it gets for the method used to record this. Did I mention that 'a music fan from NH' must have missed the enhanced CD content, which not only shows the Scorpions in the studio, but explains how the CD itself was recorded? Must have slipped my mind. The entire band was together creating these songs, with just some headphones to keep track. It's very close to live Scorpions, and in that, I think it captures some of that particular magic. I wasn't aware Sanctuary isn't considered a major label, seeing as they have some of the top bands of all time on their release lists. And this is a hard rock, back to basics CD. As basic as it gets. Here you have an 'unbreakable' band just picking up the instruments, stepping up to the microphone and creating music. To summarize: it doesn't give me a headache. It's pleasant to listen to, the enhanced content is interesting, and it's the Scorpions. The. Scorpions. This album alone is going to tide me over until the new Megadeth one comes out.
Free Music Review: Great comeback!! Hit: 4 Stars
I totally agreed with a previous reviewer........this IS a refreshing break from all of the music you hear today.
I have every Scorpions album ever made. I can honestly say that this is not my most favorite album (That would be IN TRANCE), thus the 4-star rating, However, that said, I think it is well worth a listen. There are some extremely likable songs.I don't know all the guitar and drum "jargon" to describe what I like, but I believe any true fan will give it a good listen before judging it. Another reviewer stated this CD was too "optimistic". In my opinion, it is not nearly as "optimistic" sounding as that less than perfect album, PURE INSTINCT!! And One more thing, just remember how Aerosmith sounded in the 70's. Now listen to them! They've surely shined a little sun on their music. So, Give The Scorps a break. They are doing great, they obviously love what they do and they have always written an ode to their fans in the form of a song on almost every album I can remember since LOVEDRIVE. See if you can figure out which one it is on UNBREAKABLE. My opinion may not be worth much since I do admit that I listen to EYE TO EYE a lot ( I love the quitar solo on ALEYAH) so take this review for what you will but and keep an open mind while listening to this new album from the Scorpions.
Free Music Review: Fine Return to Form Hit: 4 Stars
After more than a decade of sub-par releases, Scorpions have finally re-captured the magic that made them the best German export this side of BMW. As a fan of the group from the days of "Animal Magnetism" (1980), to my mind, the Scorps peaked with 1990's "Crazy World" before sliding into pop-rock complacency (1996's "Pure Instinct") and disastrous experimentalism (1999's "Eye II Eye"). With "Unbreakable," Klaus Meine and company have delivered a consistently enjoyable mix of largely uptempo rockers. Standout tracks include "Blood Too Hot," "Deep and Dark" and "Through My Eyes." These songs have all the power of the band's best 80s output and at the same time, come across as wholly contemporary. Chalk this feat up to superior songwriting combined with just the right amount of studio trickery. If you're equally annoyed by pseudo-angsty alt.rock and lobotomized pop, this release may be the cure for what ails you. In fact, I'd be hard-pressed to name another Scorps Lp so chock-full of catchy hooks. The only real duffer in the bunch is "Maybe I Maybe You," which comes across as a misplaced Broadway show tune until the inevitable twin guitar attack. But 30-seconds into the follow-up track, you'll be in a forgiving mood.
Free Music Review: Scorpions For A New Generation Hit: 4 Stars
Unfortunately I'm old enough to have bought Fly To The Rainbow as an original vinyl issue, but am lucky enough to have enjoyed Scorpions from their inception. While my favorite period for the band started with "Taken By Force" and carried through to "Animal Magnetism", this band has always delivered quality material.
"Unbreakable" is no exception. Strong songs with impeccable musicianship and top shelf vocals (Klaus hasn't lost a thing) make this record a must for Scorpion fans who've enjoyed material from their 80s releases forward. Those into the Uli John Roth era stuff or indulging lead guitar work of "Lovedrive" will probably not like it as much.
On "Unbreakable" The Scorps are playing to the environment of today's music scene with concise songs, that feature strong choruses and minimal lead guitar work. Thankfully they stop there and don't try to hard to sound like many of today's artists because quite frankly, these senior citizens blow away ninety percent of what's available to today's kids.
Send a message to the record industry morons that this is worth shelling out cash for by buying this record.
