Free Music Notes for Seal IVFree Music Review: Springing from a sad & lonely piano Hit: 4 StarsWalking through our local shopping mall into one of the larger catalog stores, the TV overheads were playing the typical hip-hop "I love you baby because you dance so fine..." You know the song, one of thousands of commercialized products rehashing the same lyrics. I thought to myself "If I were to write a song it would be about the universal sufferance of humanity & the salvation of personal responsibility springing from a sad & lonely piano." Then to my surprise, that sad & lonely piano sounded from the TV overhead. I looked up & saw a man singing about human tragedy, forgiveness, & divine love with a scar on his right cheek..."That's Seal, I read somewhere that he was good but I never listen to pop radio, I got to get his newest CD..." I am glad I did, this is fantastic pop with serious & intelligent lyrics covering many musical styles from Disco, Funk, & R & B that goes beyond the normal "Formula" with jazz hooks & great production. Therefore if you want something that most will recognize but with added class, give this CD a spin.
Free Music Review: What an inspiration! Hit: 5 StarsThere's something about this album that makes you want to get up and face the world. It touches that part of you that will never be jaded, that you may have forgotten existed. For me the mark of a good album is that it can be listened to as a whole, be distinct from song to song, yet feel as though it's one work of art. Seal IV is one of those rare albums.
Free Music Review: Best Pop Artist since Stevie Wonder Hit: 5 StarsIt saddens me that after Seal's second release in 1994 he has not gained the attention he deserves. ALL of his albums are masterpieces (including the experimental "Human Being")and should be viewed as such. Blessing us with a fourth full length was this album, which to me is his second best (after his 94 release)yet most rewarding with the production. Seal never disappoints, which was exactly the case when I saw him live after the release of this album. His voice is just as powerful as it had ever been, just as rich. The last time I heard a Pop album this good from another artist was 1976's "Songs in the Key of Life" by Stevie Wonder.
Free Music Review: Great music. Period. Hit: 4 StarsThis is an album which reveals more pleasures with each subsequent listen, not unlike his first two albums. I would have given it three stars after a single listen, but having spent some time with it (now on an amazing DVD-A), this jewel is shining brighter. I thought "Human Beings" was a tad boring, but THIS disc starts off with four solid tunes straight off the top. Seal and Trevor Horn have a relationship like Michael Jackson & Quincy Jones...a particular producer who brings out only the best of a particular performer. "Get It Together", "My Vision"...heck, it ALL soars like great Seal records should. If you're wondering where our new Marvin Gaye, our new Stevie Wonder, our new male classic R&B soul god is, he's right here. This isn't the best place to start if you're curious about Seal as an artist (try albums #1 or #2), but I guarantee you that if you are interested in ANY of his works, you'll like this one. You'll need this one.
Free Music Review: "Seal"ing the waves :) Hit: 5 StarsIn my review about George Michael I said I would like to see him working with another guys...well..Seal could be one of them! I know his work since he was a SessionMan and He's just a great Musician and Composer. I would Like to see Him do a full acoustic album!!! That would be GREAT!!!
