Free Music Review: The best for last
Hit: 5 Stars

Just two months after Sean Costello roared back into top form with WE CAN GET TOGETHER comes the shocking and deeply saddening news of his death on April 15th, 2008 - just one day shy of his 29th birthday. I count myself extremely fortunate to have seen Sean perform at the Wachusett Blues Festival in Princeton, MA in Sept. 2005. His energy plus infectious joy in his playing and singing literally blew away the crowd to the point that the following acts simply couldn't measure up. We chatted afterward - I told him about my older sister's passing that May - and he listened with sympathy as he signed a CD to my younger sister, who loves good music and was our older sister's best friend and nurse through the last stages of ovarian cancer. How unfathomably tragic now that Sean has left so young with much accomplished and yet with much more promise unfulfilled. Anyone interested in his legacy should start with WE CAN GET TOGETHER. It features some of his finest song writing (including the infectious title track) underpinning his blazing guitar work and distinctive, rough-edged soulful vocals. It's an album which should have been a herald for great music yet to come. My sincerest condolences go to Sean's friends and especially his family. He was a tremendous, extremely gifted young man. Long may his music endure.

Free Music Review: Sean, you will be missed
Hit: 5 Stars

I am devastated to find out that Sean Costello has "gone home to God" as he expresses on "Going home". He was and will remain my favorite artist. His guitar licks and vocals made me know what it is like to FEEL "the blues". I adore all of his CD's & have multiple copies of each just in case I were to lose one and be without for more than a day. I also hand them out to family, friends, and the like. People that think they do not like "the blues" listen to Sean and realize he speaks to them too. I know quite a few people who have opened up to the blues because of Sean. He will be missed by so many people.

It is with great sadness in my heart to report that Sean Costello passed away yesterday in Atlanta, GA.

Free Music Review: RICK "SHAQ" GOLDSTEIN SAYS: "I HAVE SEEN THE FUTURE OF "ELECTRIC-BLUES"... AND ITS NAME IS SEAN COSTELLO!"
Hit: 5 Stars

I have probably spent half of my free time the past two decades researching and looking for new electric blues performers. With this CD I feel like I have struck oil and found gold! Sean Costello was born in Philadelphia in 1979 and moved to Atlanta when he was nine. By the time he was seventeen he was playing with Susan Tedeschi, and performed on her GOLD-CERTIFIED debut CD "JUST WON'T BURN". Since that time Sean has jammed with such blues legends as B.B. King, Buddy Guy, James Cotton, Pinetop Perkins and Bo Diddley among others.

This CD release entitled "WE CAN GET TOGETHER" highlights what should be the seminal electric blues breakthrough for this twenty-eight year old, who most certainly will be catapulted to the upper echelons in this genre of music based on the talents he showcases here. Sean has a voice that can be beautiful, growling and gritty... and still hit the high notes and low notes... all in the same song... let alone on the same CD. Every song on this CD is a winner, but to crystallize one or two is almost like being asked to pick out your favorite child. Song #6 "HOW IN THE DEVIL" is an absolute rocking "ROADHOUSE BLUES" classic, that could probably be used in any movie's soundtrack that includes a scene in a juke joint, bar, saloon, or dance hall. Song#8 "GOING HOME" includes some beautiful gospel inspired sound, and Sean's voice almost sounds like Louie Armstrong.

Another thing that adds to my admiration of Sean's work is the fact that he wrote nine of the eleven songs. The only advice, or actually a respectful request, would be for Sean to add longer guitar riffs on his next CD. This young man has the future of the "ELECTRIC BLUES" world at his fingertips, and it's almost frightening what may lie ahead!

4/16/08 I have just found out that Sean passed away last night. I am deeply saddened for his surviving family first and foremost and saddened also for myself and the blues loving public that Sean has left behind. I got two rolling waves of chills and goose bumps through my body and soul; the first from the original shock .... and the second realizing the eery impact of the title I had put on my original review of this CD on March 9, 2008!!!

Free Music Review: It all comes together
Hit: 5 Stars

Merging his terrific blues guitar playing and soulful voice Sean Costello has made a complete album worthy of his prodigious talents. His previous self titled disk was heavy on the soul vibe but pushed his guitar chops to the side. This time his superb playing is in the forefront. His soulful vocals have never sounded better. Modern blues at it finest. The sky is the limit for this immense talent.

4/16/08: Devastating news about Sean's passing. Godspeed young man. You will be truly missed.
