Free Music Notes for SeatrainFree Music Review: Searched for years for this CD Hit: 5 StarsI've been looking for this album for years. It's just as good as I remembered.
Free Music Review: Same but different Hit: 5 StarsWhile I agree with Nostaligia Buff and Old Enough To Know Better, I also heartily disagree. This IS the same stuff as the original. This is yet another case of "tweeking". Digitally remastered cds often have a slightly different sound than the original simply because of the clarity of the digital process. Somtimes the people doing the remastering also fiddle with the actual balance of the various vocals, instruments, etc.
That seems to be the case here. The music is OBVIOUSLY the same performances as the record. There are certain nuances that cannot be reproduced in a rerecord, or from a different take of the same session. These ARE taken from the original masters. Thankfully the remastering hasn't made created a different sounding album as with some I've got. I've listened to the record and cd side by side, track by track and any slight differences (vocal slightly brought up, violin slightly damped etc) have not really changed the music. Just given it a slightly fuller, richer, more balanced sound.
DO NOT be afraid to pick this one up. 2 great albums!
Free Music Review: Seatrain - Long Wait is Over Hit: 4 StarsThis is a fabulous record produced by George Martin. I bought this album on vinyl (Seatrain not Messenger) and it has been one of my favorites over the years. I then tried to buy it on CD several years ago. No luck even after an exhaustive search. I ended up making a CD off the vinyl. This new CD is much better, of course.
Free Music Review: My vote for best Seatrain album Hit: 5 StarsAfter reading the reviews of Seatrain's first album Sea Train, I know there are those who will disagree with me but Seatrain's 1971 album
titled "Seatrain" is simply their best. I've listened to their first
album and to "Marblehead Messenger". The '71 "Seatrain" is a thing of lyrical, vocal, and instrumental beauty and genius. When I first heard it
when it came out I was stunned by it. I bought it and played it, visualizing in my mind the incredible imagery of Jim Roberts' words and the fabulous musicianship of all players and singers. Richard Greene's violin playing on this album is some of the best I've ever heard this side of classical. I lost the album in the many apartment moves of my
youth and was thrilled to see it re-released on CD. I'm listening to it right now and loving it.
Free Music Review: Ecstatic that this is available on CD! Hit: 5 StarsI have worn my old LP to a hissy nub, so I'm ecstatic that both the 2nd and 3rd Seatrain albums are available on CD. I can't express how much I loved the 2nd album, have played it at least once a week since 1971.
