Free Music Notes for Karma and EffectFree Music Review: Took me a couple listens but I almost like it as much as Disclaimer Hit: 5 StarsI wasn't sure what was going on when I first heard this album. I noticed immediately the lack of the Parental Advisory signal, which is usually a sign a band is trying to clean up their image and the lyrics and music in turn get watered down. I'll go into what I mean there briefly: A band goes from not watching swears in their lyrics to going down to five or six swears and just enough negative content to get the label or to not get it at all (think I'm making this up? Look at Adema, Puddle of Mudd, even my beloved boys from Staind and Cold have done this, Sevendust, etc.).
On to the album: It is excellent. I like every single song. To summarize why I finally warmed up to this one, the vocals are better because Morgan is actually trying to sing and emote and the lyrics aren't that different: id est the same themes that were presented on the first album like loneliness, alienation, mistrust, anger, etc. are still there but just devoid of the profanity. The guitars are also better here overall, they are very good at writing ballad like songs like "The Gift", "Never Leave", and "Plastic Man" but "Burrito" and "Because Of Me" are atypically heavy while there are still slow burners like "Tongue" and "Diseased". Basically I like where the band is going and I am so pleased that they aren't heading backwards and sucking like Default and Nickelback and Puddle Of Mudd (I liked their earlier stuff but refuse to listen to the new stuff they've made). For fans of nu-grunge and perhaps more optimistic metal listeners.
Free Music Review: check this out Hit: 3 Starsthese guys sound alot like Nirvana...am I the only one who notices this?
Free Music Review: Quite a good album Hit: 4 StarsThis sophmore album is pretty good. Many of the songs have catchy lyrics. The lyrical content is quite angrily sung by Shuan but not as angry as he was in Disclaimer. Some of the songs are soft. Many of the songs are good.In my opinion TRUTH is the best song these guys ever made. The chorus is superb. In the end this is a must buy considering some good tracks like 1,2,3,4 & 8.Rest are not that good but mainly act as fillers.
Free Music Review: Very Good CD Hit: 4 StarsIf you like Seethers sound you'll love this CD. I didnt realize I was a Seether fan until I heard a few songs off this CD and then bought it. Im not going to list all the great songs but Remedy alone makes this CD worth it in my opinion.
Free Music Review: Arguably the Best and Most Interesting Band of the Last Two Years Hit: 5 StarsQuite frankly where have I been to not have noticed this band sooner. Both albums are so emotionally charged and so heart felt expressed that I must have been snoozing much harder than usual. The Gift is triumphant anthem, Remedy is a powerful sojourn into the mysiries of life few bands try to explain the uncertainties of life as well as Seether. Both albums leave you a little smarter after listening!!!! Let hope they do not become too content with the attention they are currently receiving. Complacentcy is the undoing of too many statement bands.
