Free Music Review: An Under-Rated Masterpiece
Hit: 5 Stars

One thing that I've noticed while reviewing some of the reviews for Seussical the musical is a negative tint to even the favorable reviews. Most of the good ones say that it is a kid's musical that some adults will find charming. It's so much more than that. Dr. Seuss, like authors like Peanuts' Charles Shultz, uses his imaginary landscapes and characters to tell us about bigger pictures. It reminds us of the magic of being a kid. It shows us that there is magic in life, and all we have to use for an escape is our minds. Most adults have sadley forgotten the magic of imagination. This musical truly captures the spirit of the Dr. Seuss books. Listen to "Alone in the universe" and "Horton hears a who" to see what I mean. You can almost see the wierd, strange, and wonderful creatures that Dr. Seuss was so well known for creating. Kids to will love this album. Plus it has a great plot line that keeps interest high throughout the 27 songs. I highly recommend this album, and hope that it will bring as much joy to everyone else as it did to me. Peace out -Dan

Free Music Review: For the love of Seuss and of music
Hit: 5 Stars

Heard about this in Parents magazine. My 3-yr old son is a HUGE Dr. Seuss fan, and he loves to sing. So I ordered this CD from the local music store. We have been listening and singing and bouncing along with this CD for 4 months now.

I love the variety of song styles. My son's current favorite tunes are Biggest Blame Fool, It's Possible (In McElligot's Pool).

We have fun with this music and we launch into serious discussions such as "Why isn't the phrase 'It's Possible'in the original book McElligot's Pool?" This CD add an extra dimension to my son's love of reading as he finds references to Dr. Seuss books we have previously not known about and as we explore the Seuss shelf in our local library.

This CD rises above the standard sing-a-long cassette tapes, CDs, and videos. It ought to be a must-have for pre-schools and pre-schoolers everywhere. Where else can we see love of music and love of learning combined so magically as with this Seuss CD?

Free Music Review: Bringing Magic To Broadway
Hit: 5 Stars

"Seussical" was shamelessly treated by the critics who wouldn't know magic if it came and kicked them. I flew from London with a friend to see the show and left the theatre elated having witnessed an extraordinary explosion of colour, talent and creativity.

You must see this show. But regardless of what happens the C.D is a fabulous recording. It will make you smile, tap your feet and you will find yourself talking in seussical rythms for days afterwards. Everyone I have played this recording to has loved it and bought it.

Do yourself a little favour and get this C.D to see what makes great musical theatre happen. Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens are two of the most talented people currently working on Broadway and thank God they gave us this show. All the tracks are splendid but I defy anyone not to start tapping and singing to Oh The Things You Can Think and How Lucky You Are.

"Seussical" is a great, great musical.

Free Music Review: Great music, Great show.
Hit: 5 Stars

I personally love this CD mainly because over 4/5 of the songs are good. The tunes are catchy, the lyrics are good (although Seuss himself should have gotten more credit on the lyrics than was given to him.) The lyricist mainly does a pretty good job of sounding like Seuss, though there are some bad lyrics here and there. Some of my favorites are ANYTHING'S POSSIBLE, AMAYZING MAYZIE, ALONE IN THE UNIVERSE, HERE ON WHO, and HAVIN' A HUNCH. Oh, and you can't forget CHASING THE WHO'S. Horton is great for the part, nice softer voice, very sweet sounding. Gertrude is great, she deserves a tony. David Shiner is wonderful as the Cat in the Hat, although he sometimes sounds kind of strange, but i guess that is just the show. Jojo is great, and has a good voice for an 11 year old, he certainly sings better than I could when i was 11. If you love musical theatre, (and even if you don't) buy this CD!!!! It's well worth your 14 dollars, or however much it is.

Free Music Review: THE YEAR OF SEUSS
Hit: 5 Stars

Ok so maybe this is not the best score of the past five years, i won't sit here and try to argue with anyone about that one, but this show really dose have it all, that is, as far as the score is concerned. The album has sooo much music that really should be heard. The score as a whole is nothing short of amazing. Extreamly diverse, endlessly amusing, soaring melodies that you can also tap your feet to, it's all here. Having not seen the show in person i can't say what the full experience is like, but from what i've heard here the show should be fantastic. It's defenetly the best family show to surface since the lion king and beauty and the beast and as far as i'm concerned, it's much much better to listen to. The composers have been fine tuening thier craft since Lucky Stiff(my favorite small musical ever) and this show shows what a long way they have come. Pick up a copy for yourself or your kid. You will both be happy that you did.
